Does it look like they are putting in coin-op-barriers to the loo's on the District concourse at Wimbledon? Bit cheeky isn't it?? They seriously need to renovate the staff toilet there its so disgusting.

If you think the staff loo's are bad..............
Anyway, why not make 'em pay? Before the refurb, the public toilets there were abused left right & centre - at least now, hopefully, they'll keep the scum out.

You have to pay (~20p IIRC) to use the toilets at Oakwood. There is a sign saying that the money goes to a charity.

The same happens at a few other stations, Uxbridge, Acton, Cockfosters come to mind. 20p.
I wouldn't mind paying if it meant there was a decent service, however more often than not you pay 20p and get a grotty place.

At Liverpool St, Waterloo and Paddington (OK, so these are mainline stations but..), an attendant's there to make sure there's no abuse - although how much good they'd be at that if push came to shove is another question..

I've used the toilets on platform 1 at Paddington mainline, and not once have I seen an attendant. On one occasion I have also seen someone vaulting the barrier as they had no change and the machine was not working.

The staff toilets at Wimbledon were closed for a while, a year or two back, for refurbishment. When they reopened the difference was less than astonishing!

I'm not much fussed what they are like inside, since I don't plan to eat my dinner in there, however I very much object to paying ! Besides passengers vault the ticket barriers, why will the toilet barrier be different, they'd have my support for that !! Half the (male) passenges will simply go on the platforms, at Charring Cross NR I even saw someone go up against the pay turnstile, lol ! ... much better to make them free me thinks ! (and it's not just men, last week one witnessed a female in a Chelsea top unloading 1/2 way down Sloane Square platform as I pulled in

The toilets at Moor Park were free when I had to use them once in 2005, but the gents loos on the Met local platforms weren't in very good condition, unflushed, toilet seat unhinged and I suspect that those toilets are as old as the platform buildings themselves.

There was a map that Annie Mole linked to a while back (possibly as much as a year ago) that showed which stations had toilets. It wasn't 100% accurate though. I think there may have been a thread on this forum about it at the time. I've had a quick look and can't find it, but I'm sure that if I'm not imagining it then Colin will deliver the link! I think the only LU loos I've used are those at Wembley Park, which were free at the time (~February this year) and in a reasonable state.

You've reminded me that I did make use of the facilities at High Barnet, when a few of us went for a grice earlier this year. They were quite good as a I remember.

Cockfosters and Oakwood are both pay, yep, though during the day we may use our judgement with people who don't have the cash to hand. There's a certificate kicking around somewhere that says between the two stations, over £3000 was raised for charity, though I'm unsure what period of time that covered. Oakwood's female toilet has recently been redone so it's a) fairly nice and b) also a disabled toilet with handrails and extra space. Unfortunately they did manage to installed a type of toilet roll holder that the supplier no longer provides the rolls for, so it has to be changed over...

You know I don't think I've literally spent a penny on the Underground or anywhere else since I was a lad in primary school, the last time would've been about 45 years ago and it was a penny then or 2.4 New Pence to all you young'uns!

If you look there is generally an alternative facility. When they did up a shopping centre in Doncaster a few years ago, they put 2 large sets of loos in - one had all the information signs pointing to it, a massive "TOILETS" sign etc and charged 20p a time. The other was just as large, but hidden up some back stairs with only a couple of signs, and was free. Doncaster Council are huge on charging for public toilets, I'm not sure if they have any free ones these days - whereas in Gainsborough over the border in Lincolnshire, they're *all* free...

When I first visited Lincoln in 1999 one thing I noticed immediately was the availability of public toilets and the fact that most were free. I moved to a village North of Lincoln in 2005 and having travelled around the county I am still pleased to see many free public toilets and quite often with attendant service too. As for Doncaster the only facilities I have experienced there are pub lunches, another great feature of Lincs and its surrounds I think. Brian

Those toilets that do exist seem to be fairly anonomous ! Someone asked me last week if there were public loos at Earl's Court, I said no, since I've never seen them, however, Seth from this group told me there in fact are !
They have recently refurbished numerous loos at East End of the District stations, yet none of them ever seem to be open.
Having been given a rushed turn around at Upminster, I then tried to access the toilets at Hornchurch, Dagenham East, Heathway and Becontree, all of which were locked during their hours of operation. Even I, as staff am not privvy ( hehe ;D !) to the access codes for these doors ! After which there is nothing near the drivers cab stopping point until Mansion House (as far as I know !) !
(Then they wonder why trains stop for ages causing blocking back from Mansion House !)

When I asked someone on the gateline at Earl's Court I was told there aren't any and was directed to the MacDonalds a couple of doors down from the station!

RE: Boston Manor - I noted them as 'excellent' as at the time I used them they were spotless, looked like it had just been cleaned.

There is a little tiny (pay) JC Decaux one built into the wall now in the Earl's Court Road Ticket Hall.
It has only been there just ver a year I think and is self cleaning, by the look of it, well that's what the dot matrix says above the door.
Some staff toilets are downright disgusting as well, even in Head Office Buildings! as well as front line locations.

JTD's is on the nose RE: Earls Court public toilet - there is just the one at the Earls Court Road end, outside the gateline.
