[ I don't think that rebranding should be a priority. All of the stations on the ELLX will be served by Southern and LO trains. Norwood Junction also has some South Eastern services. Additionally, from 2015 they will also be served by Thameslink. I think there should be small signs displaying which franchises serve any given station. But as we saw when Connex was stripped of it's access rights and Southern replaced it, tax payers money was spent on large scale re-branding. So if anything the stations should be made franchise neutral. Just to mention that Norwood Junction (along with East Croydon) lost its South Eastern services in December 2008 when the London - Tonbridge via Redhill service passed to Southern.

I wonder if *any* of these stations will ever get new LO signage installed? IIRC LO is now nearly two years' old and they haven't managed to re-sign or fully refurbish a single station yet. The two stations with new (permanent) roundel signs are both new-build, one for Silverlink and other still not open. There were some signs of rebranding at New Cross Gate today.... The Southern logo adjacent to the entrance had been covered over and the woman in the ticket office was wearing a London Overground jumper and name badge. A PA announcement was in the form of "This is the Southern Railway control centre on behalf of London Overground......" There was also a notice in the ticket office window saying that due to the transfer it would not be possible after 19th Sept. (?) to buy Oyster season tickets from there. AFAIK you couldn't anyway. Gates wide open and unmanned both times I went through the station. Tracks splayed still in Platform 1, which incidentally has had a chunk taken out of it at the northern end to make way for some buffer stops on a siding from the depot. (I wonder how they will increase these platforms to 10 car now?) Conductor rail visible on all newly laid track including the flyover, which as posted earlier is now fenceless but does have a woodblock across the tracks. Simon

So in practical terms, exactly what difference has the transfer of these 10 stations to London Overground made to the travelling public?

People can now top up Oyster at these stations. More staffing. I guess more noticeable changes will have shortly before ELL trains begin operation.

People can now top up Oyster at these stations. Can they use their oyster from there once topped up? Are the readers at those stations uncovered yet?

At New Cross Gate on Monday the service announcements were being made by "Southern on behalf of London Overground". However, not all staff appear to have fully grasped all the new names and acronyms involved as this notice was posted on a ticket machine that wasn't working quite correctly - Even if it were spelt correctly, how many of the general public would know who LOROL are and why they might be apologising for an out-of-order ticket machine?

LOROL seemed to increase it's presence at NXG yesterday. The ticket stock now has the TfL Roundel on it, the credit card machine said LOROL and the AwfullySlowFare machines were presenting a LOROL theme on their displays rather than the previous Southern theme.
Chris, Did you get a picture of the sign on the credit card only machine which says no money is kept in it over night?
Oh, and the evening use of the ticket gates seems to be to keep the narrow (normal) gates closed i.e. normal operation and leave the wide gate open. I'm glad the network is now more secure.....

Simon This actually seems like a good idea to me, it'll stop some people forgetting to touch out (won't stop people doing it deliberately of course).
