I was unsure which line thread to put this in but knowing how you District drivers like your scenery I thought I would put it here! ;D I was unable to take my "Little Train" up to Rayners last night due to a D78 coming off the rails going into EC Depot about midnight. Instead I had to screw it down in Acton sidings and with 2 other Picc Drivers pilot Districts from Acton WB to Acton EB via Northfields Depot (much to the perplexion of the cleaners who thought they now had to clean 2 stocks!) This went on until about 3am and needless to say there are now 9 "Green" Drivers fully conversed in the "Picc Way!" The last 3 cars were uncoupled about 4am and when I finally got to go to Rayners about 5ish the front 3 cars were still there with the DM car at a wierd angle with about 20 people milling around it. It had been removed by the time myself and the 3 stranded Piccs came back EB at about half past 5. I haven't piloted a District that way for about 5 years but the sound of all those tree branches against the roof and windscreen soon brought those memories flooding back!! ;D
Night all.

Nice to see our blue line showing the green drivers the way things were until 1964...just hope thay they enjoyed the scenery. Typical blue line hospitality!

Could it be that Districts will be taking over the Picc's Uxbridge branch before long with this lastest snafu?

Catching up..... From what I've heard, read and caught up on, this incident was almost a carbon copy of my own incident some five (or thereabouts) years ago when I put one 'on the deck'; even the road involved was very close (mine was 5, this incident was 3). For those who haven't read the account of mine it's at www.trainweb.org/districtdave/html/derailment_.html

Are there any active sidings at the east end of Ealing Broadway that still that could be used for stabling these days?

The sidings are still there, and are capable of being used - but you'd be looking at something pretty catastrophic happening before the line controller would even consider that option.
In any case, there's no official walkway there (well, not that I know of anyway).
That said, they were used by engineering trains last summer (IIRC) for a possession in that area.

And BAET said that the tracks are so badly rusted that one of his colleagues would be present to pull assorted track fuses for the sidings, to ensure that they showed occupied on the diagram.

the tracks have to be tested at least once per year to make sure they comply with the standards even though they not used all that often if at all

The siding at west siding Acton Town is in use quite a bit for the Picc.
