I would be interested to know if Olympia is not a branch, although surely Wimbledon and Richmond are branches? I would be interested to see though whether it is considered that the "main line" is now to Wimbledon and the other westbound lines branches thereoff!
Where does that leave the line to High Street Ken for the D Stock and Edgware Road for the Wimblewares? Is the line to Edgware Road a "branch" or de facto seperate service?
Until October 1964 the District had the Hounslow branch as well. Amazingly for some time after the Picc took over the line completely there were still car diagrams that showed the line. Stickers were applied but they came off!

How many branches is the district line divided to? Have you thought of looking at an Underground map?

How many branches is the district line divided to? Have you thought of looking at an Underground map? Excellent idea sir! However! Is the Olympia "branch" a branch? Is it more, a self-contained shuttle? [Thinks]

Plus Uxbridge. Windsor is counting the Ealing branch twice.

Actually there were two historical Hounslow branches! The Hounslow & Metropolitan Railway, later MDR and DR, initially ran to Hounslow Town as well as Hounslow Barracks, later Hounslow West.

South Acton, I forgot! Is it a shuttle or branch though? Yes, correct Oracle!

The main line is Upminster to Ealing Broadway (even though there are no through trains for a fair chunk of the day). The rest are branches. I certainly consider Olympia a branch. Through trains do run to Olympia during disruption and there is a timetabled Olympia to Upminster departure in the late evening.
Also note Tube10 is based in Trinidad, admittedly access to a tube map is probably easier than accessing this forum, but none the less it has developed a running thread ;D

Surely everything that is not the actual main run, and more a deviation would be classed as a branch? So technically everything from Earls Court W/B onwards is a sort of branch.
I see certain people coming along and clouting me rather heavily round the head, so I'll slip away quietly.....
