Hmmmmmmmm.....
The only thing that stands out are the windows - I thought the openable windows on D stock came in two halves, whereas the openable windows shown appear to be one contiguous window.

bear in mind i know nothing about D stock, C stock being a far superior train...

I think its the car numbers i.e. the two units making up this train are the first and last in the single ended unit number series
i.e. 7000-17000-8000+8129-17129-7129

TOK, D78 window hoppers AFAIK come as one piece (ala NYC Subway R142As), not two (ala Bangkok BTS Skytrain).

Yes, like Harsig says, these are the first and last D stock units together. (Although I didn't get it until I read Harsig's post!)

First and Last (of the single enders) coupled together. Solidbond's PM, as one may expect, was also correct. As for the openable windows, there are two openers in the centre bay windows, but only one at the car end side windows.

And the windows in between are not open-able as the doors slide into their pockets.
