What is happening at Barking lately, this morning there was a signal failure at St James's that lasted about 50 odd mins and the next thing you notice its all running belly up going east to Barking. I caught the traffic at Whitechapel and it was signal to signal all the way through to Barking This seems to be happening all the time now like yesterday morning it happened again, the westbound is fine but that eastbound is terrible.

This often happens when there's service disruption. They try to do too many reverses and reforms at Barking, then end up with half the stock stuck between Whitechapel and Barking E/B. There seems to be too much reluctance to cancel trains IMHO.

Why not reverse at Plaistow then? Barking only holds eight trains anyway, so it's not like turning short at Plaistow will remove the chance to put stock out of the way for its return working.
Besides, wouldn't it recover nearly 65 minutes for late Upminster services? (I have heard DD say that a reversal at Barking recovers about 50 minutes).

And if half the trains are stuck at the Eastern end of the District, you still end up with huge gaps at the branched Western end of the District!

I'm sorry to say it happened again today, we seem to be getting a lot of spells of this lately and today it was - signal probs at Tower Hill, signal probs at Putney Bridge/Parsons Green, meal reliefs at Barking and Earls Court and a stalled train at Earls Court e/b.
Ironic thing is while I was waiting to pick up at Barking this morning Metronet phoned the DMT asking for a service survey ;D ;D - wish I had picked the phone up instead and told them what I thought of it.
The District seems to be falling apart and no one wants to do anything about it.
