Last I heard it was 41 refurbished, 3 away at Derby, leaving 31 unrefurbished in service (if the total is 75, which I think it is!)

The latest information posted on the Refurbs thread, shows that 44 trains had either been refurbished or were at Derby being refurbished. This post was made on the 27th of March, and based on the typical delivery interval shown on that post of two trains per month an additional two trains will have probably been completed since then. As the fleet is 75 trains (according to Wikipedia, corroborated by Metronet's website describing the 38th train as the half-way point) that suggests there are 29 unrefurbished trains in service. (I don't know why there is a space in the middle of the word "Refurbs" in the link above, there isn't one when I edit the message)

While we're on the subject, does anyone know what will happen to the part refurb unit (7008, 17008 etc) that still seems to be in operation? I gather if it is to be refurbished, it will be the last one.?

It will be 're-refurbished' and I was due to attend a meeting this week specifically about it. Unfortunately my current workload means I can't attend so the meeting has had to be postponed. I will update you when the meeting takes place.

I will update you when the meeting takes place. Sounds like you need to persuade your bosses to increase the number of staff in your department to ease your workload ;D ;D ;D

I think I remember prjb mentioning a previous attempt that didn't quite go according to plan. Although perhaps it could be second time lucky

By my calculations there are still 23 trains (46units) still to do. I think the estimate of March 2008 for completion isn't far wrong.

Indeed - they do seem to be running around in groups at the moment. It's not planned that way though!

50th train has been received by Derby. Whole thing due for completion end March 2008 - more or less on time.
