This is a pet subject of mine so I will post items here that may or may not be of interest as and when I find it!
1. The Up flyover and connection with the Up Windsor Fast was closed on 4.4.87 (because of weak bridge) and subsequently removed. To replace it, the Down line was (eventually) made reversible from 11.2.91.
2. On 7.19.2006 a chap commented that he was on the 21.11 Weymouth-Waterloo the previous night (6,10). On reaching Wimbledon on time at 00.46, the train was unexpectedly sent via the District. At Point Pleasant Junction the train was halted; the guard then announced "due to problems on line ahead, the train will return to Wimbledon and go forward from there to Clapham Junction". This duly happened; the train reversed in the up slow platform at Wimbledon (P5) and got to Clapham Junction at 01.19.

For note, a quick look through the system today shows the following trains running via the District: 2F02 0400 Guildford - Waterloo 2L10 0454 Basingstoke - Waterloo 1B01 0105 Waterloo - Soton (as far as Woking tonight) 2K77 0042 Waterloo - Strawberry Hill (as far as Surbiton tonight) That's about it... Ta you know who you are

Qestion i have is can SWT servces acess the 'down' connection to Point Pleasant from East Putney Platform 3? The former Up Line?
As i have never seen an ECS service in that platform; but the rails are untarnished and the starter signal is still working and apparently well cared for being recently repainted...
Cheers, ~ Matloughe

I think that the answer is that must be a crossover Up of P3 to the Down reversible. The Up line used to seperate from the Down and go across the viaduct and then down..I remember it well in the Sixties and wondered what it was for. DD has a diagram: www.trainweb.org/districtdave/PutBr.jpgwhich does not show any crossover. Perhaps someone else can elaborate?

Does the 0400 Guildford-Waterloo regularly use the route? It seems to be the earliest SWT train to me after the service shuts down.

The 0400 has 12 mins between Wimbledon and Clapham Jnc every weekday, certainly did the route again today as according to the computer it passed Wimbo Pk at 0435. Assuming P3 is the up (towards London) line, according to the Southern Quail, there is a crossover just off the photo. www.flashearth.com/?lat=51.459618&lon=-0.209418&z=19.1&r=0&src=msl shows the layout pretty well, you can see the points in question as well as the flyunder.

Yeah, it's mainly to allow trains to get a straight through run rather than being cautioned.
If you have a look at SimSig Waterloo it should give you a rough idea of the layout in the area.

SimSig VW4 shows the Windsor lines end of the chord between LUL and the Windsor lines, which shows the connecting layout, if that's what you're on about.... other than that I'm lost!!
