Did anyone get caught out by the nice greasy rails from Mile End to Gloucester Road West & Eastbound this morning. It was mental, Metronet decided to top all the grease boxes up plus do the rail heads as well there were greasy finger marks going into Whitechapel on the west and it was as slippery as hell going into Gloucester road west I picked up the E.R.U. at Stepney East and all they could do was just wipe the grease off with a rag, not that it did much Because all the grease had already been spread everywhere.

Fortunately though my trainee and I were out and about whilst all that was going on, we had adequate warning from the problems encountered by others!
There were several locations through the city where I could see the grease on the rail head!

I did hear that 11 District/H&C trains overshot either Mile End or Stepney Green first thing yesterday morning. In a few cases, both were overshot!

Following the weedkilling train is definitely not fun, especially when the controller doesn't tell you. It's only happened to me once, when I saw it leave Upminster before me. As I wasn't sure it was weedkilling, I noted the number and called the controller who was able to confirm it was spraying. Good job I was paying attention, no chance of getting the info out of the controller otherwise

I was waiting on the eastbound at Hornchurch one day last year as the Weed Killing train passed through spraying on the Westbound ... the following train skidded 2 cars through ...to my entertainment ;D
