I think it is an abandoned passageway, brought about by the Charing Cross/ Strand/ Embankment/ Trafalgar Square works of the 1970s.
AIUI, many passageways at big stations get given unofficial names by the staff working there.

Yes, Pages Walk is where David H says it is... reputed to be haunted too...

reputed to be haunted too... It gets a mention in that 'Ghosts on the Tube' programme. Wasn't Pages' Walk used in the film 'Creep', where the homeless couple were living?

The tunnel known as Page's Walk connects the Bakerloo platforms 5 & 6 with the old District substation. It has quite a steep slope to it. The bridge over the platforms about halfway along is the start of it. AFAIK the tunnel itself was never used by the public.

I've been inside Page's Walk a few times when I was an SA, accompanying Station Supervisors on their checks. I wasn't lucky enough to see a ghost (I probably scared them away).
As Tubeprune says, one end is near the Bakerloo platforms. There is also another exit leading, IIRC, to platform two (eastbound District).
In places it is quite cavernous. On one night shift, we had two contractors working inside. A protection master was sent to "ensure their safety as they were working at a height." Upon discovering this, they argued with the PM and supervisor that he was there to spy on them. They were not happy bunnies. They thought they would have a lazy night, but ended up having to actually do some work.

if you walk down the steps to the northbound bakerloo the closed doors directly in front of you before you turn right onto the platform will take you there i believe.

I used to go to school in Pages Walk, Bermondsey. It has been renamed Mandela Way.

'Pages Walk' is the long, sloping tunnel constructed to link the District Railway with the Bakerloo Tube when the latter opened. It was a tiresome interchange, and the LER closed it in 1914 when the station was rebuilt with escalators. IIRC at Bakerloo level the connections are from the passageways currently in use at platform level, i.e., on the NB platform the Way Out turns left and goes up stairs; the old passageway would have turned right. If this is the case then these connections have been permanently blocked, rather than having doors installed.

Just noticed reply #9. I must have used the NB stairs hundreds of times and not registered the doors. Whoops!

This reminds me, recently, an old coaling siding at St James Park was 'discovered'. It had been bricked up when the w/b platform was extended. An inspector took one step in and then backed out as it was knee deep in dust and the air was thick with dust.

St James Park again: There's a spur tunnel at the east end of the eastbound which was used as a p-way cabin back in the 1920s.
