Would this be the one to South Harrow? I believe that happened late last night (Sunday). One of our newer drivers responsible.

anyone going to expand for someone less knowledgeable like myself. Somebody must've taken the wrong route at the Hanger Lane junction. The said route is currently served by the Picc, but the District did run down there at some point in time, (though, no more). Perhaps the naughty driver in question would benefit from a little light reading? ;D ;D ;D

One of the reasons such diversions always get a good airing here is in an attempt to remind me that I did a similar thing a few years ago and admitted it! If you want to read the details (before someone else posts it) the link is www.trainweb.org/districtdave/html/confession_time_.html

The reason originally for posting, was that severe delays were occurring on the Picc due to a signalling "problem" at Acton Town on Monday morning. Then later on, minor delays were occurring on the Met between Rayner's Lane and Uxbridge "in consequence to the signalling problem at Acton." Presumably the Picc were sending loads of Ruislip reversers.

it was not a signalling problem as such it was that the signal operator could not handle the area in push button mode (manually presses every signal) as tubelines installed the wrong timetable for the programme machines so the site would not operate in automatic working

would anyone like to say what the normal consequences of taking the wrong route are(disciplinary) You get taken off, have to write a memo and explain your actions to a DMT who then gives you suitable advice. You then get the pi$$ taken from your colleagues, which is the real punishment .

Presumable this doesn’t just happen at Hanger Lane and that occasionally the Picc also serves Ealing Braodway?

Presumable this doesn’t just happen at Hanger Lane and that occasionally the Picc also serves Ealing Braodway? My fondest memory is of an evening when a Picc took the wrong stick at Hanger Lane (WM21) and ended up at Ealing Broadway. The procedure was to change ends without opening the doors and get back to Ealing Common as quickly as possible, tip the punters out and go into Ealing Common depot to await your next trip back on the east. This is what the crew did. Of course there was no PA on the train in those days (40 years ago), you just shouted into the car with an apology about a technical fault as you tipped them out and directed people over to the WB platform. Unfortunately, the next Picc, loaded with all the somewhat disgruntled people from the Ealing excursion, also took the wrong stick and the poor bu**ers went to Ealing twice. The second driver, a colleague of mine at Northfields, was normally an excellent driver (and knew it) so he not only got a lot of stick from the passengers but we gave him a real hard time for the next few weeks as well. Poor old Ernie! Yes, his name was Ernie!
