If I'm not mistaken, there's a 15mph limit sign stuck at the end of the platform to go over the points which split the H&C from the District.
Having waited for the H&C numerous times, I've noticed inconsistencies between District t/ops exiting Aldgate East WB.
1. Low power setting and crawl out of the station. 2. Full power setting then cut it - nice loud bang!
But I think around 1 in 3 trains...
3. ...just hit full power all the way!
On the third scenario, do I see blatent speeding? ;D As slow as D-stocks go ;D, it should take less than 6 carriage lengths to do a 0-15mph under full power. The rearmost car would need to travel approx 7 carlengths from standstill at Aldgate East until clearing the points!

There is indeed a 15 mph PSR leaving Aldgate East westbound.
Personally I would do (1) - leave in Series.
Leaving in parallel then shutting off at under 20mph does tend to produce a bang.

However they leave Aldgate East, there really is no need to rush towards the next signal. Honestly ;D

Ah, the rare sight of a District line train having to wait for a Circle!

On a serious note regarding DD and Colin's posts, I will be attending a much awaited meeting this week concerning changing the way in which Aldgate's junctions operate. The length of time the computer chooses to look ahead will be changed.
So it could mean that instead of waiting 2 minutes or more for that Circle to leave Aldgate ahead of you, you may in future only have to wait 1 minute. Every cloud and all that ;D

Whilst that can only be a good thing, and for the passengers too - not just the drivers - I fear it could ultimately be a complete waste of time. I have been turned at Mansion House a few times recently (is it me, or do we seem to use MH a lot more lately?) - and on almost every occasion that I've been sat in the bay waiting to depart, I've observed the following: - District drivers tend to use either the toilet or the tea urn - but not both.
- Circle drivers always use both facilities.
So we may pass through the Aldgate area quicker - but we'll just get held up further down the line Do Circle / H&C / Met drivers have any similar facilities prior to, or at Aldgate for making tea or using the loo? I suppose my point really is that it's all well and good be able to clear signals more accurately, but humans will always hinder any efficiency gained

At the risk of diverting the thread ..I do rather feel LUL have themselves to blame for any delays at Mansion House, the total lack of staff toilets accessible to drivers, inevitably results in delays approaching Mansion House, a few stratigically placed loos about the system would spead the delays so they were easilly absorbed.
(note. Mansion House w/b is the first staff loo after leaving Upminster, a few eastern stations have public loos near enough to the cab to use, but they are always locked with no driver access. If you get a turn at Dagenham East, you have to run from the loo at Mansion House e/b to Dagenham and back to Mansion House w/b before a loo visit is realistically possible by nipping from the cab.)

Aspect has a very good point there. We have tea points on the W/B at Barking and a new one at East Ham W/B! IMHO a staff toilet at East Ham would be far more useful.

Do you lot all have short range tanks or something?
I consider that my fluid intake is perfectly average and in seven years on the trains I've never needed to stop for a pee - I take a 'relief' before I pick up and on my meal break!
Of course we all know there are a good number of drivers that will use the need for a PNR as a means of getting out of work, but that's a slightly different issue.

Your taller than most Dave, so you have more room for liquid storage. ;D ;D I've never taken a PNR (Personal Needs Relief) but I do stop at Mansion House from time to time, yet a toilet at some of the places we get held for ages, would mean no delays at Mansion House or at all !! I never use hot water points at all ..yet oddly you can't get cold water at some of these "tea points" eg East Ham !! Mind you ...despite the claim "the railway runs on tea" ..you can't even get that out of the staff machine at Barking

I am amazed a toilet has not been put in in the room on the westbound at Mile End as there is a tea point and plumbing inside. This is an ideal location for Central and District drivers, it breaks up the distance between Upminster and Mansion House.

Seeing as how the station appears to be in the throes of a much-needed refurb, maybe there will be one installed.

Talking refurbishment, things are heating up at Aldgate East - the huge traditional roundrels with the station name have been replaced with stickers!
