Bump? It's a current thread! ;D ;D ;D Can you elaborate on what you mean by "the current problems at Upminster"? Yesterday there were severe delays due to signalling problems at Upminster - I suspect the delays were caused by the high dwell times at Barking and the end change times at Dagenham East due to the lowered service. Can't really say a lot on here, but from what I hear it was a case of defective signaller rather than defective signals.

I love it when I hear the Controller tell a driver "We have blocking back because of Signa LER failure at Earl's Court" most amusing ! There have been a few days recently where an absence of signaller staff has resulted in sections of track having to be put in automatic mode, preventing some reversers and curtailments. Notable this week locking out Tower Hill / Mansion House and Embankment. Most Tower reversers running to Whitechapel. As for Upminster - a particular signaller has been wreaking chaos for a while now .. not aware said signaller was on recently I took the opportunity to phone the box to seek an explanation about the unnecessary delay caused to my train getting to depot, when i observed what should have been done to avoid any delay, said signaller hung up on me ....oh well !

Indeed........twice last week I was supposed to be put in platform 5 at Upminster so that my stabler could be used as a 'hot' spare on the reception road - and twice I got the stick for platform 3 . Week before that, I got the stick 10 mins early because she (ooppps) thought my train was the one in front . I wonder if it's the same one that, up until recently, was making life difficult at Earls Court??........

I see it was a horrendous day on the District today, signal failure at St James's Pk this morning, security alert at South Ken this afternoon and,to cap it all,a suspension at the east end this evening due to trespassers on the track.

The tfl journey planner real time map is saying there was a signal failure at Ealing Common and a faulty train at Whitechappel to compound the misery

Between the trespassers on the track (again) in the dagenham area, A dud train at Whitechapel, Punters not being able to handle their ale at S. ken, a failure at Hanger La JCT and now a failure at FBYE, its been a good evening all round really.

it shows that no matter how many upgrades and new trains there are proposed there will always be passengers who abuse the system which will ultimately delay the system.

Well I copped it twice - I was the train stuck in the tunnel behind the one at South Ken with the [drunk] person ill on it.............then on my second half I sat at Fulham Broadway, at my new favourite signal (A681) for almost 10 mins under the impression I was in a queue to pass through Earls Court. Eventually the signaller decided it had failed I wonder what will happen today........( ;D)?

so colin your the train who decided to sit down for 10 mins roughly about 21:10 (we rewind tracker to see) so what happened about the waiting for 2 min rule at a auto?
btw it was a broken track connection which caused the falure at fulham

It was I on train 126 ;D ;D ;D I had a DMT in the cab (off duty, but travelling to work) and he agreed that on the basis that we were held at both Putney Bridge and Parsons Green, the likely reason (given late relief problems at Earls Court) was that the signallers were regulating us [at those stations] and that we had therefore joined the queue for Earls Court. So the signaller was 'on the ball then' - they hadn't noticed my lack of movement for 10 whole minutes! At the time I was at Fulham (Eastbound), I should have been at Ealing Broadway - that's how bad the service was, and might give you some idea of how difficult it was to get an answer on the phone or radio, being as every train was well 'off book'. Oh well .........
