Apologies if this belongs more in the Historical section than here, but as it is purely signalling, I elected for here! Right then, South Harrow top end crossover (wrong road starter on the EB WV. 5, crossover 16 and bang road disc WV. 20) - when was it taken out of commission, please? I know it was there when Rayners Lane took over South Harrow with push buttons on 14/9/57, and that it had gone by 17/7/78 when South Harrow changed to programme machine working supervised from Earls Court. I've also managed to narrow the field down to a period between 6/12/62 - when the overlaps were extended at Ealing Common and August 1974 when the WB calling-on disc was removed (I think). Could anyone narrow the field down further, please? I can't be sure if the crossover was removed in the stageworks for the resignalling of South Harrow (exclusive) to North Ealing in 1972. I know the crossovers at Sudbury Hill (WW) and North Ealing (WU) were removed on 4/6/67 and 19/6/71 respectively - so it isn't a given to assume that this top end crossover went during the '72 work.

Thanks for the date for North Ealing. It was before I joined LURS but I recall it being mentioned as being arguably short-sighted, which was of course after the event. The question is whether on reflection it would have been handy and worth the expense over the years?

Arguably North Ealing would have cost more to maintain than Sudbury Hill, as Sudbury Hill had just one set of blades and a FPL connected to the frame there. The trailing points in the EB were loose points.
N. Ealing had both crossover ends locked (even though it was another trailing crossover) and worked from the frame.
