It's a single part question today, but there is a bonus point available for working out why the location was chosen for today. *Click image for a larger version*

My answer sheet says Bank - closed passage between DLR and Central, Northern and W&C lines (taken 15th December 2007) We are still looking for the reason why this location was chosen for this day though. *Click image for a larger version*

Anything to do with people featured on recent banknotes?
If so, it is the anniversary of the death of Sir Edward Elgar, featured on the immediately previous £20 note which remains in circulation.

Clever, but not correct. It is an anniversary of something though, but unrelated to banknotes.

CSLR opened their Bank station as a part of the Moorgate extension? Don't know about that, but it isn't the answer we are looking for.

more modern than that, and nothing to do with the Northern Line or its predecessors.

I don't know if either of those are correct, but both are more recent than the answer I'm looking for.

The anniversary of the W&C passing to London Underground?

The W&C became part of LU on 01/04/1994, so it can't be that.

The date in question is when London Transport paid British Rail 1 pound to acquire the W&C.
