also 2 lifts isnt enough for busy station - 4 express lifts would be ideal - like one found in NYC station at Lexington Av / 63 - which has 4 large elevators serving both levels - but more simllar idea for automatic lifts at heathrow temerial 5 which has 4 lifts there serving three levels
but if 2 elevators served both elevels could be busy because there no direct escalator down to lower level
well i know but i have seen new york map having show the partial step free and full step free the partial step free shown as boxed text with icon but full step free - just icon
i Note the Victoria station has no step free blob but its should show dagger that step free is available from northern ticket hall only to Victoria line only - i would suggest to them to add orange blobs to show that is part step free
I noticed the status message on website under Victoria station - VICTORIA STATION: Victoria station now has step free access from the new entrance at Cardinal Place to the Victoria line platforms. This message shows that lifts are in service now - I am not sure
3 lifts are now in service. None of them have 'close doors' buttons. PM me for pics (file size is way too big for here).
Lift C - Cardinal Place/Victoria Street entrance/exit ↔ Northern ticket hall Lift E - Northern ticket hall ↔ Interchange level Lift G - Interchange level ↔ Victoria line platforms
you can host on Flicker site or oither sites and link here
Lancaster/Morecambe/Heysham - hmm i dont know if they have trams or metro because that one has no metro or trams there - i think you meant the mainline trains or Bus
i noticed the status message on website under victorica station - VICTORIA STATION: Victoria station now has step free access from the new entrance at Cardinal Place to the Victoria line platforms. this message shows that lifts are in service now - i am not sure
the watterloo bakerloo has step free only southbound so connection from there is jubilee line lift which takes them up to street or down to JLE platforms
step free at king cross met and circle has gone - no step free to platforms linked with lift works but no dagger attached to it - someone forgotten to add it
This was current from the December 2016 map.
king cross on dec one was step free i recall - as map was produced at that time - however the step free removed in March as document says content.tfl.gov.uk/station-closures.pdf
step free at king cross met and circle has gone - no step free to platforms linked with lift works but no dagger attached to it - someone forgotten to add it
Blackhorse road station (overground has step free but not shown on map) - i think they are preparing the new access lifts
the stairlifts are very slow - you need staff to operate them so far only one station has this so other option is platform lifts - LU has couple of platform lifts installed on network - those can be useful for limited headroom rather having full standard lifts - those platform lifts have automatic doors and can take scooters or prams or wheelchair but inline lifts can be good idea - there couple in europe - where stairs and inline lift blends in its works well for station
I wonder if Blackhorse Road LO platforms come under the National Rail rules? Lifts and unstaffed stations are not incompatible under those arrangements it seems.
there some NR stations have unstaffed station lifts also DLR has lifts at unstaffed stations
yeah the humps can be easy installed also some stations can be easily have lifts or ramps take good look at example - finchley road station has stairs down so putting inline lift along the stairs its saves space for standard lift while at deep lines where there is lifts exists - take good example - Brough station on northern line - which has step free to northbound so adding lift next to stairs will give a access
the magnetic manual gate can be operated by ticket clerk - which he presses button behind ticket window - i have seen this at sttaion which caues orange light on top of gate post to flash to tell that gate is unlocked
recent tweet said 5 lifts but however press release said 6 lifts so geoff said one lift is staff/emergency lift so i am very confused why press release said this 6 lifts for step free but only one lift isnt for public
pushchairs can be carried on escalators or moving walkways
They must be folded, technically speaking. Norbitonflyer is correct in their assumption that carrying unfolded buggies - particularly with children on board - is frowned upon.
One of those rules that is rarely enforced but exists to remove liability from the company if something does go awry.
in shopping centres and shops - they are always have pushchairs on escalators
i remember correctly once time in Sheffield area - the single unit coupled with two car unit so the gangway could used - this was result of strike in railway company (i cant remember which company its was long ago)
In the last couple of days an extensive new ramped structure has been installed at Blackhorse Road. This fills in the gap between the footbridge and ticket hall but means a longer overall walking distance than in the past. I assume it has been done to ensure that all ramps are compliant with modern standards so that a wheelchair user will be able to get between the ticket hall and the lift towers to both platforms. Given how many people have "knife edge" connections, myself included sometimes, to / from the GOBLIN platforms I can see people missing trains in future because of the longer walking distance.
The User Group tweeted the following.
so where the entrance to ramp? i couldnt not see behind lift shaft on picture
But easier if lift shaft had doors on opposite side where station ticket hall was at making shorter distance for people also stairs as well
