I am rather hoping that two cars of 67TS will have an active future of at least 20 years. But a lot of t's to be crossed and i's dotted before that happens!

This is the Track Recording Train (TRT/TRV) Formed of 1960 Tube Stock Motor Cars with ex 1973TS Trailer Car TRC666 It goes across the entire LU network (with the exception of the Waterloo & City) and records the quality of the track It will be replaced by the Asset Inspection Train Yeah, IF they get all the problems sorted out on the AIT! We're doing our best!! I had a look at the overall plan today and that has the pilot cars down as being retained by TransPlant for other duties. Hopefully the TRC will get preserved as it has been an important part of the engineers train fleet for so long. Regards, Dan

PEDs were installed on the JLE because the designers were worried that the air pulses generated with a full ATO railway would be sufficient to blow people over on station platforms as the train came in. The older section of the line does not have such high speed limits therefore less of a problem.
Also the older stations would require platform strengthening to accommodate PEDs and it would reduce the width of those platforms.

Dan

D'oh - brain fade! Just realised who it is, met him a few times while on a placement with the team looking at bringing TBTC under Operations control. Not sure what's happening with Signals to be honest since the reorganisation, I think the teams are no longer line based. Last I heard was that he was still at Neasden.

The other question is what is it going to South Ealing Test Track for? Probably for brake testing, I think the Rolling Stock standards require an emergency brake test every 3 years. Haven't got a copy of it to hand at the moment! Regards, Dan

That was the first (and for the moment only) run outside of the test track environment. We have a few issues with wet weather performance that may take a bit longer to resolve!
