A = West Finchley Link = Stations with 'Finchley' in their name Odd one out = Finchley Road & Frognal as it's a London Overground station as opposed to London Underground Fifth in set = East Finchley

And it says 'Northern Line' on the front, as well as quite clearly being a 95/96 stock. I assume they've mismatched an image and a description.

B reminds me of Sloane Square so I'll have a punt at that.

I'll go with my original thought of Colliers Wood?

Balham for D?

I'll have a punt that A is Silver Street. So something to do with Streets!

I believe D is looking towards Buckhurst Hill.

Is there a temporary bus timetable in place as I can't find one? Or would going from Barking to Walthamstow be quicker via Zone 1 for the meantime?

Something to do with being in zones 9, 8, 7 and 5 respectively? I can't see what's unique about them to pick a zone 6 station though.
Edit: Most easterly in the respective zones? So Upminster in zone 6?

A = Russell Square?

Let's try saying B is between Clapton and Tottenham Hale.

Leicester Square is the only interchange with another line?

It's the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, I've always known it as an Olympic stadium as it's played a role in both 1896 and 2004 Athens Olympics.

If that's the case B would be between Southgate and Oakwood as they're consecutive sections of the Piccadilly line. The 5th in the set would be Cockfosters itself.

B is Rectory Road and D is Finchley Road so I assume there's a 'Road' link here, Roads in Zone 2? Bow Road for 5th?

Is it something to do with geography? Chesham is the point furthest west of the TfL network, Cheshunt furthest north, not sure where Lewisham would fit into that though.

It must be to do with out-of-station interchanges, whereas White City is the only interchange to a station with a completely different name?

Let's have a go that A is the walkway between Hackney Central and Hackney Downs.

Based on what @macaronlover said I'm going to take a punt at Mill Hill East for A as these are all Northern line termini. ...and what will be the fifth in the set I spy a clever use of the future tense as currently there is no 5th in the set. However, in a couple of years time, Battersea Power Station will join the list. EDIT: Aaaaand I just got beaten to it because I was trying to make a clever post including quotes and a tag... Sorry. I'll let you take the points as you did all the hard work! I just put the answers in for completeness as I thought it had become obvious by then.
