The hot weather working will be in at all times between the stated times it’s much easier for everyone to have one timetable than try and switch between them depending on the weather forecast plus the trigger temperature is so ridiculously low now that it’s introduced on even fairly cool days (already implemented one day earlier in March) Thanks, so this basically means that every single evening rush hour from now on (well sorry, 8th April), until the end of the notice, all fasts will run on the local lines between Harrow and Moor Park. Gosh I hope the re timetabling of services ensures these don't get held up behind late running stoppers. Not complaining about pretty much most Amersham and Chesham services now being Semi fast for most of the day though! Thank goodness this doesn't impact the morning rush hour, sending fasts southbound down the local lines from Moor Park to Harrow.

Sorry, could I just confirm, is this saying that the Harrow Hot weather plan will come into effect when the conditions are so that it is needed OR
Are we saying that this plan will be in place every day between those given times, regardless of conditions? Therefore, the Met will no longer use the fast lines AT ALL between those hours, at all, until late September? No matter the weather/temperature?
I know it says conditions permitting so suspect it is the former. Mod edit [Dstock7080]: Quote removed. Please be selective about the part of a post you wish to quote rather than the whole post verbatim, particularly if you are replying to the previous post in the thread.

I would have thought a solution would have been to just get the interiors done rather than go head to head with the Dft

Are we saying that we will have trains which are non DDA compliant right until 2029? Or will the interiors be done in the short run with just the re tractioning work taking much longer? All trains that go through CLIP will be to the finished standard, CCTV, DTS modification, LED lights, new AC motors, wheelchair spaces, PIS screens etc. So I take that as a yes, as long as the interiors are not done, they will not be up to DDA requirements, which could be as late as 2029...... Remarkable how tfl have gotten away with the a deadline which originally came out in 2010 and was supposed to be completed by 2020. Have they got an exemption until 2029 now?

What exactly is the defect?
Hopefully the rerailing works sort the issue out.

I think the screens at Baker Street do a good job***. Screens similar to this (or a simplified version of the thameslink core platform screens), are needed at Finchley Road Northbound, Harrow on the Hill, all platforms except platform 2 (why they didnt use the opportunity to do this when the light boxes were replaced!!!!) and Moor Park Southbound platforms.
***Baker street now needs an auto announcer, like you have at London Marylebone/Euston for example. Just set the announcer to turn off when it gets late (e.g. after 9) to avoid causing disturbance to the locals.

To be quite honest, this wouldnt be the first time LU are taking action on old trains:
The A stock was refurbished around the 35-40 year old mark!
At this stage, I dont get why the works will take so long following August, and I expected the majority of the fleet to have been done during 2025/2026

The S stock fleet and new signalling are intended to provide 32tph around the central area and 28tph north of Baker Street. Before Covid this was planned from 2023, but with subsequent lower demand and tighter funding, service upgrades have been postponed. Whether the faster running expected on full commissioning will enable economies in train operation and staffing, or whether trains released will enable a small improvement in service has yet to be seen. The originally planned service upgrades may be some time away. The intention was to have peak services of 8tph on Circle, Hammersmith & City, Ealing, Richmond, Edgware Road/Wimbledon, Wimbledon to City, with 16tph east of Barking to Upminster. The Uxbridge branch would have seen 12tph peaks, Watford 10tph, Amersham 4tph and Chesham 2tph. Thanks for this level of detail. Are the Amersham's and Chesham's Fast and some of the Watfords Semi-fast? Off peak, I am guessing things will remain the same as they are right now.

With the 4LM soon to come to the Met (I know we are still some way off an official completion and service frequency upgrade), do we know if there is a draft or provisional timetable (in tph) expected for the Met line once the new system is fully rolled out?*
If there is not one, what is the general expectation from both those in the know and from those simply speculating?
*I know it may not reach the Uxbridge branch in full at all and this is to remain with the current signalling for the foreseeable.

The usual que at finchely road only really starts to affect southbound trains around kilburn. Granted that it sometimes can be before this point, but the current wembley que definitely seems to take longer to clear.
But from what I've noticed at present, you still seem to get the finchely qué anyway!

There isn't usually a qué of trains building up on the northbound to wembley during the rush hours but it would be nice to revert to pre 2012 when the fasts went straight to harrow in the peaks.

1. Down to 27 degrees IIRC. Worth noting that this is rail temperature, not air temperature, so this regularly applies in quite mild conditions as we experience it. 2. Indeed, a 16tph Met service through a single platform is asking for trouble, as Wembley Park platform 6 is currently finding out. 3. Yes, one of the reasons for formalising what were previously ad-hoc arrangements is to minimise collateral disruption where allowances previously didn't exist. 4. If it's got movable angles, it's not moving. There are doubtless other folks on here better qualified to talk about the sustained pressures affecting LU renewals in recent years. Suffice to say, it will be several years post-CBTC before these restrictions are relieved What's the reason 16tph can't be handled at one platform at Harrow when during the off peak, Finchley Road, Wembley park, Preston road and Northwick park handle this amount through one platform just fine?

1. So this only occurs when the weather is too hot right? What's the threshold? 2. Why are Amersham's and Chesham's (off peak), routed through the fast lines north of Wembley but the Watford's are not? Aren't these the same service (if originally all stations services) until Moor Park? I am guessing this is because you need the use of two platforms at harrow northbound rather then routing the whole service via Platform 4. 3. With the timetable changes, will these be designed to ensure that fasts using the local lines north of Harrow are not held up by a local train ahead? 4. Points 200 (giving access to platform 1), I did not realise these points were an issue?
With the re-signalling soon due, its really about time these points were just renewed to avoid having to do this.

Issue still on going (Southbound) AM peak 27/02/2024.
Despite all trains using the fast lines south of harrow, the service is very slow as a result of sending everything down one line. I don't know if the fasts were signalled to take on an intensive service as the signalling is setup for fast running and longer intervals. Or is the congestion due to everything stopping at Wembley?

Another issue is that the service shows as "Good Service" which is not true at all. Tfl need to describe this as Minor delays and notify customers that southbound trains are not stopping at these stations.
Which point specifically has failed? Is it the one just south of Wembley where the local and fast lines join together?

Issue affecting southbound trains is still on going. All trains running semi fast and stopping at Wembley
Also how good is the communication at Preston road and Northwick Park? You can see people waiting on the southbound platform!

<<Thread merge from 'Late finish to engineering works' thread, renamed accordingly - goldenarrow>>
Seems like a late finishing of engineering works is causing severe delays across the line.
Anyone know what specific work was being done and why it means trains can't stop at Northwick park and a Preston road?

Whilst the names in their own right are very nice, I don't think they're right in the context of naming a rail service. They should have been named according to what the line is and does. Not to also mention that they are not exactly the easiest names of the tongue in some cases.

What service is being run in tph on the line during the closure? Are more trains running to Uxbridge/Rayners Lane as a result?

I would have thought the issue was solved with the introduction of the S Stock, but I would take a wild guess that it will only be when the 73 stock is finally withdrawn, that there would be a far better case to open doors on both sides.

There is an ongoing points failure at Wembley Park. Northbound trains from Baker St can only access platform one at Wembley Park and then run via the fast line to Harrow. In order to maintain a northbound service for Preston Road and Northwick Park a number of Baker St services are being reversed via Neasden Depot. Trains from the depot can be routed to Wembley Park platform two. Train 441 is one of those that has been chosen to reverse via the depot. During the rush hour, is this not causing a que of trains on the fast lines if the terminating trains from Harrow have to then run fast to Plaform 6 at Harrow and then stop there before going into the depot?

. . . . and the first under ATO for the line. Don’t forget the 1960 Tube Stock Hainault-Woodford shuttle. Of course! I should have specified I meant along whole mainline.

92s may be knackered in comparison (in part) as they're the first stock to follow a very intense timetable and the first under ATO for the line.
