Looking at the thread on the previous problem at this substation, it would appear that the Electrical Rectifier that needs replacement is possibly a "pre-used" one that came out of Roding Valley so it may be that it was not in new condition when it was installed at this site. As to how it can sort of work it may be that it can supply a certain amount of DC power, too much and it may overheat and shut down. I have to add that I do not know what sort of protection is fitted to these sort of unit. (Previous thread www.districtdavesforum.co.uk/thread/26562/unspecified-power-failure-on-central )

Thanks for that explanation, it does make sense when you see the night-time pictures of the train fitted with this extra light. norbitonflyer, To be honest I cannot remember exactly where it was I saw this train, it would have been somewhere in the Excel exhibition site or the Stratford (Olympic Park area)so possibly not really Docklands.

Whilst on the subject of headlights, and on London Overground trains I recently saw a main line train in the Docklands area which had a light built in to the "bumper" part of the front of the train. It was approximately on a level with the coupling. I have not seen a light that low down before and wonder what it was there for?

That looks great fun, I must say I like the concept of the tube train delivering the passengers to the ticket office, not very practical but funny to ponder! :-)

Out of interest, what does Rulebook 2 say, in broad terms?

What a wonderful job they have done with the place, it looks stunning. I think that Betjemen would have felt that it was worth the effort he and many others have put into getting back to what it is now.

Hello, I was looking at alsefshrugged's blog where he has been documenting the adventures of Shelix the cat, and I was wondering how common it was for stations to have cats living on or near them?
I seem to remember on one of the documentaries about the tube there was one station which an official cat to help keep rats down, does anybody know which station it was?
Thanks

It is very difficult to know what to say when so many wonderfull things have been said by people who knew him well. I confess that I never met him but I kind of got a feeling that I would have liked him, there are many things on his website that made me smile when I read them. I am certain that he is in a better place, probably discussing their undergroud system!
