I can see the link but it leads to a siding that in turn requires the train to reverse to reach the national tracks. Seems really awkward. I've seen that siding, from the bridge by the station, where it appears to be disused.

I've been modelling the Central Line depot at Ruislip. Google aerial shots show the southern part full of goods trains and I was trying to work out how they get to the National Rail network. The only entrance/exit lines that they could use are those of the Central Line and there appears to be no connection between the Central and the National Lines anywhere as far as Acton, and I can't see one there. So obviously I am missing something and would be grateful to be shown where to look.

If you cannot see the pictures, I really have no idea why not. I have seen the page display correctly and I have seen it ignore the display of the photos and just display the ALT tag. Maybe a problem with ProBoards, maybe something on the web hosting site that I use. Sorry.

I have been playing with Transport Fever 2. Because it begins in 1850, what better project than to recreate the Met north of Aylesbury? I am limited to those objects provided in the software and in mods so obviously this is not authentic but I find these shots a little nostalgic anyway. 1. A view of Brill 2. The shuttle pulls into Wood Siding 3. Quainton Road. A GCR express is arriving just as a horse drawn bus and a new fangled motor bus bring in passengers from Quainton. Any tips from other TF2 players would be extremely welcome.

And another failure this afternoon. Train was stuck s/b at Finchley Road - I arrived in time to watch a very frustrated-looking driver leaning out of his cab. I was going n/b - what then irritated was the train arrived from Baker St and then sat at Finchley for about ten minutes before proceeding with a queue building up behind it. We were not told why.

Another fault this morning leading to minor delays.
I get the impression that the frequency of faults is increasing. Are there any stats to show if this just an illusion that only strikes on days when I wish to travel?

Is the Met going through a bad patch? Wednesday afternoon the n/b service had big gaps. I was at Finchley Road about 4:15 aiming to go for Uxbridge. First in was a fast Amersham so full I couldn't get on. Next was a fast Watford, had to stand all the way to Harrow and when the Uxbridge finally arrived so full had to fight to get in. Yesterday long wait for an eastbound from Ruislip Manor at 11 am, slow Aldgate turns into a fast to Moorgate as we pull into Harrow then we all get turfed out. This morning I see delays shown.

If we know the approx time it can be looked at on Trackernet replayer I took a photo and the time displayed was 14:07 so it was due in at Finchley at 14:20

There was some sort of delay on the n/b Met this afternoon and when I arrived at Finchley Road the display board showed first train to Watford (11 minutes) and the second to Rayners Lane (in 13). I was only going to Preston Road so despite the temptation to see if the second train really did turn round at Rayners, I took the Watford.
I know the Mets can turn round at Rayners in an emergency but have never seen it actually shown as a destination on the Met.

They've been cutting trees all along the line to Rayners Lane. I think pretty well all the trees were planted by the Met in the first place - the earliest photos show the trains running through bare fields with just the odd hedge to break up the landscape. I live just north of Ruislip Manor and look out on to trees - when the house was built this was a large empty field. The railway giveth and the railway taketh away.

There is some debate on my local Facebook group about Eastcote Halt, when it was that it became simply "Eastcote" and what the difference is between a halt and a proper station. Can anyone enlighten us?

Just seen on the News that the M25 was blocked earlier today because it hadn't been gritted, so it seems LU were not the only ones caught on the hop. I didn't see a forecast last night though - was any snow forecast this far south? I saw forecasts on Saturday afternoon for the following three days. In each case the area expected to get the snow was north or west of the M25; when I woke up yesterday I was surprised to find an inch already on the ground and snow continuing to fall.

I have just seen and listened to the first part of this. SO boring. The commentator obviously loves the sound of his own voice, and so many interior shots when the train is moving and ought to be focussing on the journey. I escaped at Kew Gardens Agree with you about his verbosity and I love the comment about the 15mph limit on the approach to Gunnersbury "Does anybody know why this is?". I imagine loads of people on here know perfectly well. Brilliant visuals though.

I wasn't making light of the problem at London Bridge; it was the driver who told us that he had no idea what was going on, (and that passengers feeling warm should step out of the train for a breather). When he called them back in a few seconds later he still didn't know what the problem was, only that he was clear to run to Waterloo.

Caught me on my way home from Finchley Road to Ruislip Manor. Fortunately before boarding a train. Took a Jubbly south (and another nasty moment when the driver told us that there was an 'incident' at London Bridge but we made it to Bond St), then a nice hot Central to South Ruislip and a bus. It's fun days like this that make me rather glad I no longer have to go in to town every day.

Much to my amazement the platform and station foyer display signs, which have been effectively useless since installation in 2007, are showing train arrival times. Well done, LU (he wrote, sarcastically, as he checked his smartphone app which has been displaying exactly the same info for years). No, I shouldn't carp. It's nice to see an improvement.

I was rather taken with Willesden Junction which I visited for the first time a few months ago. One line passing directly underneath the platforms of another, all in the open. A sort of neo-brutalist industrial landscape, emphasing the huge impact of the railways 170 years ago.

If you stand close to the front of the two trains, to see the signal at the end of both platforms, dash to the appropriate train as a green aspect appears. That is, if you like playing a form of Russian Roulette with the reflexes of the driver. Some announce that the train is leaving, some just glide away with ne'er a word, presumably the second that the green shows. Ah well, I don't commmute every day via HOTH like I used to for much of the past 40 years so it's hard to care that much.

I was one of the throng who used the Central to watch the race at Epping. LU did us very well indeed. Loads of staff around, no delays, clear signage, sufficient trains waiting/arriving at the start of the return journey so that despite the crowds it was easy to get a seat. Has this station ever handled more passengers in a single day?

I thought I'd provide some helpful feedback to TFL about the useless nature of the departure boards on the Uxbridge branch. The feedback form does not ask for contact details, nor, on closing it, does it say anything helpful like "Thank you". It just closes. I have no idea if my carefully crafted words have gone into the void.
And has anyone looked at the page for West Harrow? Apparently the line runs north - south there. Apparently northbound means toward Uxbridge. I am seriously unimpressed. They could say "Towards London " and "Toward Uxbridge" and then one would not have to play guessing games.
Oh, and on the home page of the desktop version there is a link to "live departures". Which brings up what looks like the page for the mobile version, and for buses only. Nothing at all about trains - you have to dig into the menus and select a station from a list.

I have just discovered the Working Timetables on the new TFL site. My!! I am never going to get bored again. Thanks for this hint. I found them as well. The first page of each says "Private for staff use only" so it feels a bit naughty to peek inside but I want to, I'm going to and it's too late to stop me.

On the old site, the system seemed to know whether a train running between Uxbridge and Rayners Lane was Met or Picc. Now it doesn't. It shows two lines for each train, assigning each to the two lines (this is when you select a station and look at the arrivals). I don't understand why, given that my smartphone apps can show the correct info.
In addition, the huge amounts of wasted white space on the journey planner pages suggest someone doesn't know how to design or program web pages at all.
These comments relate to the desktop version.

I've just returned from Ruislip Manor where the 11:50 from Harrow sailed through in great style. One forgets the smell and taste of steam. Very evocative of a bygone era.
