The only TSRs I can remember between Leytonstone and White City are Leytonstone to Leyton, Stratford to Mile End, Shepherd's Bush to White City WB and Queensway to Lancaster Gate, Mile End to Stratford EB
I'm picking up my second half in about an hour, Leytonstone to West Ruislip and back, will check if there are any others

At the moment they only have one fully functioning train that's still doing test runs so we don't have anything to train on
I imagine they'll release the IOps for training first then they can release us to be trained by the IOps

If its running in passenger service then it will be with test train drivers. As far as I'm aware none of us, including the Instructor Operators, have been trained on the new kit like the in-car CCTV, the new DTS system or where items that were below the seats have been moved to allow for the wheelchair space

It was "out of service" on Trackernet, T480, left Ruislip depot via the east end/Ruislip Gardens at 10:20, went to North Acton and back to West Ruislip 23 Road four times then went back into Ruislip depot via the west end 14:20
If it had been in passenger service it would have gone into the platform at West Ruislip or tip out at Ruislip Gardens
According to a test train operator on Twitter it's going out almost every day now as it needs more mileage before it can go through the pipe.

Wood Lane Control Room say there are 19 separate TSRs (Temporary Speed Restrictions)
I've only been from Leytonstone to Marble Arch, Marble Arch to Newbury Park, Newbury Park to Leytonstone and the only TSR was Mile End to Stratford, both directions, 35kph
Got Leytonstone to Loughton, Loughton to West Ruislip, West Ruislip to Leytonstone next, I'll see what I can find
Was told by the Train Manager they've decided to run the Boxing Day timetable tomorrow but obviously we're all working on the normal Saturday roster so who knows how they're going to organise things

It could be a number of things
We do get an occasional "invalid target speed" between Stratford and Mile End on the westbound that activates the emergency brake. The sound of air was most likely the driver getting a brake release after switching to Coded Manual.
Other possibilities are ATP failure or low adhesion (mostly in open section although not unknown in tunnel section). There's a lot can go wrong with 1992ts

It has been reporting that new Central line timetables were discussed by management and unions at Trains Functional Council yesterday, they should be implemented soon and will be in place for abut a year.

When changing from the Elizabeth line to the Northern line at Tottenham Court Road at lunchtime earlier in the week I heard an announcement blaming delays on the Central line to a shortage of train operators. They should come to Leytonstone TCD, there are loads of us sat around because our trains have been cancelled Yesterday on CDP/ATOR at Hainault we had to do everything in the training room as there wasn't a train available in the depot. Earlier this week the training manager did get a two car unit to play with.

Its getting worse. I spoke to a West Ruislip "early" yesterday who told me that only six out of 16 trains were brought into service from Ruislip depot that morning and that earlier this week we had just 44 trains during the morning peak
If that wasn't bad enough while doing CDP/ATOR yesterday I heard that there are problems with the new AC motors as the test train that has been running along the Hainault - Woodford loop got "gapped" in either the North Neck or the South Neck at Hainault depot

Last week we had 55 trains during the peak, should have been 78. This week one of my colleagues told me had to take two trains out of service during a single shift at the weekend after both suffered flashovers.

Maybe it would be better to order new trains for the Central Line, by adding on to the end of the Picc Line and Bakerloo Line orders. Oh wait, that'll take 3 years or more before delivery could begin. Central Line service is indeed annoyingly unpredictable, especially for those of us that live along it. At least let's have it so the only reason for cancelling trains is stock unavailability and not no crew available. They should have ordered replacement for the Central Line fleet along with the Picc and Bakerloo Line trains, and they should have been rolling out the new Central Line fleet next year, but delay, COVID, delay, delay and we are now in the mess that was predicted in over 5 years ago. The original 2014 plan was for new stock/signalling on the Piccadilly (2023-25), Bakerloo (2025-27), Central and Waterloo & City (2027-32) At the moment its just new stock on the Piccadilly (2025-27???) and absolutely no idea when/if the rest will happen

Are the motors removed from the CLIP trains being used to keep the rest of the fleet going? I have heard that was the plan but because CLIP is behind schedule there is now a shortage of motors

Looking at the new DVA files, there isn't an 'Ongar' audio file. Interestingly there is a 'This is a Central Line train to Bank' file. As shrugged said, it might still be possible to enter it onto the new destination screen, however, it wouldn't play anything destination wise because there isn't an audio file. Can the current voice announcement system say this train terminates at Ongar? No announcement, just "Ongar" displayed on the front and back I'm guessing the "Bank" announcement would allow eastbound trains to terminate at Bank and reverse at Liverpool Street if Liverpool Street were closed although I've never done that in 20 years. Probably didn't think it was a good idea before Bank/Monument was expanded. We currently have a "Tottenham Court Road" option as we used to be able to reverse via Museum sidings if Holborn were closed which I did once.

Word from my ASLEF rep that we'll be getting a new timetable in September with the current 78 trains in the peak reduced to 54
Also Waterloo & City will return to five train service Monday to Thursday and four train on Friday

I've been on annual leave for the last two weeks but we've been cancelling trains for about a month due to lack of available stock. A few times when I booked on I've been told that my first half was cancelled and gone straight to wherever my meal relief was or I've finished my meal relief, been told that my second half was cancelled and booked off early.

Indeed, Woodford Hainault service is supposed to have two trains so it looks like the Refurb train was withdrawn at some point and there wasn't a train available to replace it
Yesterday my first half train developed a fault and had to go into Ruislip depot while my second half train was cancelled. The 1992s are struggling.

I can confirm that along with track circuit operating clips we have six detonators in a 1992 stock emergency track equipment locker. The very idea that we could walk 2km from a derailed train that was blocking Network Rail track and place three of them at 20m intervals then walk another 4km to place the other three on the other side of the incident is rather optimistic but this knowledge is what you have to be able to demonstrate to a training manager every 18 months to retain your licence as a Central line driver
Only four years, two months until I retire...

Thought detonators were removed years ago as a H&S issue. Wasn't the HS&s hissy fit more about the type of detonator and or secure storage and disposal rather than use of them per se ? Speaking as an ex-H&S Rep if there was an issue raised and it led to changes then it can hardly be described as a "hissy fit" I've just read Christian Wolmar's history of British Rail and one of the things highlighted was how greater attention to H&S cut the number of rail workers deaths

We have them on the Central line. Parallel running from North Acton to West Ruislip, West Acton to Ealing Broadway and technically at Stratford although we'd have to clear the platform to get a derailed 1992 stock onto Network Rail. We also carry detonators which are supposed to be placed 2km from the derailed train, by the time we got there any train approaching would have turned up! Thought detonators were removed years ago as a H&S issue. I will check the contents list of the emergency equipment locker tomorrow but we still asked about placement of detonators during CDP so I guess we still have them

If these are due in service in around a fortnight, I am quite surprised that there are no final pictures. It is as if TFL are trying to keep this some sort of top secret?! We have seen more of the 2024 stock - those are what you call something of great anticipation given the technology advancements on these trains. This project is just refurbished trains which are 30+ years old! I am pretty sure the refurbs of the 90s incorporated bigger changes? Maybe there is something more to this to be revealed in due course If these are due in service in around a fortnight I am quite surprised that there has been no mention of training us on the Data Transmission System upgrade and the in-car CCTV which I understand we will be able to monitor from the cab The major change will be replacing the old DC motors with AC motors

Tuesday I was spare, was on a train 15:38 - 18:12 and the Line Information Assistant at Wood Lane was telling us there was no service on the DLR. Wednesday on my first half (12:20 - 14:45) we were told "Woolwich Arsenal - Poplar and Beckton - Canning Town" but at some point after that it changed to no service. It's noisy in the tunnels so sometimes we can't hear the announcements
Maybe whoever was onboard (managers?) booked off at 15:00

Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th November 2015 when there was a strike on DLR they had one train with a manager on board running a shuttle between Canning Town and Custom House as there was an exhibition at ExCel Centre
Now that Crossrail goes to Custom House I don't suppose they'd bother
Instead of "no strikes on driverless trains" we'll have "the only reason they have staff on board is because the unions threatened to go on strike"
