Indeed - there are some German station codes used by DB that pre-date the Second World War.

Is the existing DLR station not able to cope?

Crossrail+sponsors weren't looking to spend more money and launch a new two year subproject at that time. Maybe when City Airport is bigger they'll pay enough to make the benefit-cost ratio better. But providing a station would enable the airport to grow. But we don’t seem to think like that in the U.K. We build thousands of houses, then think about the transport afterwards. Why does the airport need to grow? Aren't we supposed to be reducing CO2 emissions?

Guess I'll be taking another trip on the Goblin then. Mind you I have done the whole route already on a 710. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing them turn up on Romford to Upminster myself.

When's the free month starting then? Press office have confirmed that the free month will run from Saturday August 31st to Tuesday October 1st inclusive. The slightly longer than one month period is in response a Network Rail possession taking place on the line at the end of September. So this will be free for everyone then?

Can't they just use a dust extractor?

Never knew that about shift workers and their food habits - something to bear in mind if I ever do a job like that.

You'd get a derogation if required.

Yes, that's correct; each 'unit' is considered to be one long carriage.

Rode on a 710 today. There's a weird software bug that means the driver has to lock the doors before they can change ends...

The extras are now loaded into RTT so 710s should be out and about. 710 262 was at Barking this afternoon.

Jonathan Fox is Director of London Rail which manages TfL's non-London Underground train services. He previously worked for British Rail, EWS Railways, Docklands Light Railway and was a founder member of Ultravox before going solo, reaching no.31 in the charts with "Underpass" in 1980 Whilst I have been lucky enough to hear Mr Fox's keyboard skills, I'm fairly confident you're confusing him with John Foxx. It means nothing to me... oh, Vienna has a boring U-Bahn.

What about the single bore tunnels that are near Primrose Hill taking the Watford DC under the Up and Down Fasts? Surely those are way too narrow to have side walks. Certainly in the slam door days, the Class 501s had bars on the windows to prevent passengers leaning out...
Anyway, getting back on topic, any idea when these will turn up on Romford-Upminster? There is a stopping board for them at Emerson Park... albeit only one way.

You still need to extend the platforms at Liverpool Street High Level first; 9-cars won't fit at present.

Not surprising; they may well use the same compressors as the Bombardier Movia, the family to which the S Stock belongs.

The main GA platforms are 9 and 10 for that service. 10a is sometimes used for Norwich services.

Quite possibly not. The access to the core is from the 'Electric' lines, which are on the south side once you pass Ilford. It is entirely possible to run the current service on the 'Main' Lines, but the platforms at those stations aren't really suited for passenger operations, I believe. Sureley the electric lines are on the North side beyond Ilford? I was referring to going West. They switch sides via a flyover west of Ilford, just west of Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy. That flyover dates back to the original electrification (work commenced in 1939 and was suspended for the war, resuming after) because of the decision to base the new electric suburban service in Platforms 15 to 18.
