The lack of Passenger Information Displays is a big fault with them now, which needs correcting.

It's actually just Terminal 2/3 now; Terminal 1 has closed permanently.
But if they did that, you'd have to make the line diagram more complex.

In two separate FOIs TfL have now confirmed the following services from Shenfield in the May 2023 timetable: a) Trains from Shenfield will NOT run to Reading. b) Trains from Shenfield WILL run to Heathrow. There's probably not much demand for that. Anyone going to Reading from East London is not going to sit on the Elizabeth Line the whole way; they'll get off at Paddington and board GWR instead.

Took the EL from Custom House to Whitechapel, just after lunch today. Had to stand. Says something about that line's success.

Waterloo & City is Mon-Fri only Romford-Upminster is a daily service I can remember wanting to use this service on a Sunday and to my dismay finding that it does not run on Sundays. Romford to Upminster frequently doesn't run on Sundays when there are engineering works on the Elizabeth Line eastern section - the 710 needs to use it to get to Romford. Tickets for 26 November farewell tour go on sale on Monday via the Branch Line Society. For the benefit of those unfamiliar with the Branch Line Society website, this is the link you'll need: www.branchline.uk/fixture.phpThe link goes to an error page.

A post on the from the murky depths site states that the 315s will be withdrawn from service on 26th November. That's the confirmed date of a farewell tour the Branch Line Society is involved in, along with the 315 Preservation Society. Tickets on sale next week.

GA could do with them at Ingatestone. Would have issues working with both Aventras and Flirts though, right?

This plan was drawn up two years ago, last time I was at Romford station no sign of any works to start building this entrance. Haven't seen it either. It would be pretty disruptive as that's a major bus stop. Mod edit [Antharro]: Quote partially removed. Place needs a more prominent sign, that's for sure. There's one next to the entrance, but it's not really visible from the south side.

It isn't. That's the Urban Chocolatier building on the other side of South Street.

<<Posts from from Elizabeth Line (CrossRail) opened 24th May 2022 thread - goldenarrow>>A further note on Romford is that they've closed the pedestrian ramp on the south side of the station. They were having to put a security person there to prevent fare evasion as there was only an Oyster reader, not a full barrier.

How are trains reversing at Paddington? Are they going round a crossover? There are three reversing sidings to the west of the station, near to Westbourne Park. I don't think they've started it yet, but there's going to be a system where the train does the reversal automatically as the driver changes ends. Went on the core today myself. My personal thoughts: - The trains shoot out of stations with incredible acceleration and are running very fast through the tunnels - around 60mph.
- WiFi works in the stations, doesn't seem to in the tunnels.
- The stations are very large and there is quite a bit of walking involved for interchange or exit. This is particularly truly at Liverpool Street.
- Some of the stations could do with more visual distinctiveness at platform level - this was something that was realised on older tube lines with different tiling styles.
- I doubt many people are going to use Elizabeth Line out to Reading when you can get GWR services on contactless that are much faster.
- There are still a couple of 315 workings on Shenfield services, although the trains have been debranded.

If I recall, HM has bashed the 365 up to Sandringham from Kings Cross? On a fairly regular basis. Not doing it now - she's flying pretty much exclusively due to her age. Wouldn't be the first royal train enthusiast - one King of Bulgaria liked to drive the Orient Express when it came through his country. By all accounts, he wasn't very good. In any event, she opened the Victoria Line too.

I've seen a magazine on sale at W H Smiths which celebrates the Elizabeth line and the most recent issue of Modern Railways magazine includes a free booklet about the Elizabeth line. What at I do not know is whether the free booklet is essentially a cut-down version of the paid-for magazine. It would be nice if H M The Queen performed the opening ceremony of the railway which bears her name, in person. They will probably try that, but it's going to be very much dependent on her health. Prince Charles may well be sent instead.

Unclear. My personal guess is at the next timetable change - Saturday 14 May - along with Southern's 455s. There is a reasonable chance the central core opens the following day.
