TfL did not want to extend the lease on the 172 DMUs as they were planning on electrification happening before their lease of the units ended. On the other hand the franchise covering the West Midlands desperately wanted more DMUs - so Angel who actually own the trains signed a contract to make them available to the West Midlands operator as soon as the TfL lease expired. The fact that (1) the electrification works ran late and (ii) the new Bombardier EMUs were very late in being delivered makes no difference! A contract is a contract and hence the DMUs went north and there was sod all TfL could do about it.
It wasn't all that bad - I'd say the deadline helped focus minds to sort the issues sharpish

I'm sure I recall someone mentioning an incident where a southbound Pullman took the wrong stick at Rickmansworth and it ended up stopping and reversing at Watford. No idea however if that was before or after your cutoff year.

The rumour is the airport 360s are going to Bangkok but I'm pretty sure there's nothing to confirm that.

Maybe just a spare for Goblin and restricted to NewCross-Dalston duties due to it having less capacity?

The 710 test train workings are out today on Saturday. That's a surprise but a positive sign. Looking at Monday's working timetable for the GOBLIN shows a doubling of test runs (from 2 to 4 round trips) on the line with afternoon and early evening return trips in operation. Seems there is a more determined effort to get drivers trained on the units now. No doubt panicking with the impending loss of the 172s. There’s nothing like an immovable deadline to focus minds and efforts

Why did Chilterns trains stop serving Moooor Park? Speed up the service, and also the locals complained about the 115s being noisy when they departed. I could’ve sworn that the non-stopping coincided with the 165 introduction

I’m sure I read a staffer post ages ago that said LO drivers don’t sign the fasts anyway. If they can't use them why would they sign them? They couldn't keep the knowledge current once learned anyway. If a new set of points was installed such that LO services could access the ELL core from the fasts then there would be no benefit in not road training the drivers (but see my previous post on the likelihood of this happening) Believe it’s just about possible if it ran fast to the Up Sussex Loop (signed from slow) and reversed to New Cross Gate platform 2 (also signed).

My totally uninformed guess is someone from expense management decided on a single moquette for the fleet, then after seeing what was done to the Northern line, someone from the culture department said let's compromise...

I note that RTT shows the platforms all as either A or B, is the public 'name' or just for use during testing? For example I would have thought that Whitechapel would be platforms 5 & 6? Simon I think the Overground are 5&6, presumably from when there were 4 above but your point remains, 7&8 makes sense

Years ago I thought I read that the original door speed on the 92TS was too aggressive and the pressure was reduced a little to make them slower. Perhaps therefore there's slightly less pressure at all times and as a result their ability to stay closed under force is a bit less than designed.

I had my first journey on one this evening and I'm sorry to say I'm not impressed. I'd say the interior looks no newer than before and the colour palette chosen is quite gloomy. Given previous tube refurbishments have been quite transformational this is a let down in my opinion and I actually quite miss the purple accents.
