So does this mean that the passengers who would use the cheaper Connect service will now have to pay £17 instead of £10.20?

I remember reading somewhere that Circle line trains were regularly turned by running to Aldgate East. As some Circle line trains come into service from Barking it would be easy to send some via Tower Hill and others via Liverpool Street. This would even things out. I wondered why the Eurotunnel terminals were set out the way they are, with a clockwise loop at Folkestone and anticlockwise at Calais. Then I realised that the reason was at least partly to even out wheel wear!

Shame they repeated that video of the door opening when moving!

If that is correct it seems perhaps a little odd that they seem to have swapped the end cars from two original 4 car sets. And is there any reason why it has 3 NDMs and only 1 trailer?

I assume that places like East Acton, West Acton and North Acton are named as such because they are the names of the localities. In fact I live in East Acton until 1960. Then Lambeth probably doesn't have an area specifically named North Lambeth, so the station is named simply because it is in the north of the area. Interestingly (to me anyway)when writing about localities in London they refer to, say, 'Ealing, west London' rather than 'Ealing, West London'.

Do Piccadilly trains still run local services on the District early morning/late at night. I remember travelling into London from Acton town very early one morning in the mid 90s and was surprised that the Piccadilly train ran all stations to Hammersmith on the slow line.

Is the reason because you can get more seats in? I don't like airline seats and I don't like travelling backwards. My wife booked us on Eurostar to Marseille, and booked rear facing seats. Couldn't move to front facing until Lyon Part Dieu. On the way back we managed to get new seats all the way.

I found it interesting that the left hand westbound between Acton Town and South Ealing is still bullhead, and although the main westbound running line is mainly FB there is a short section of bullhead.

This is the second question after my trip to London. In the tunnel to Woolwich Arsenal, most of the lights are white, but there are many blue lights at regular intervals. I couldn't see clearly, but I thought I could see emergency telephones near each blue light. Would they be markers for telephones?

I was in London over the weekend, and I have a couple of questions. One is about the Piccadilly, another is DLR, which I will post separately. I was at Hammersmith and saw two small yellow lights between the central conductor rail and the right hand running rail on the westbound Piccadilly track. Could anyone enlighten me about what they are for?

This was tried post war by Bullied [sic] on the Dartford line. Additional time to load & unload, non standard rolling stock. Bulleid's was designed to fit within the existing loading gauge - it wasn't a huge sucess. It wasn't a proper double deck train. It had 'compartments' interleaved at high and low level with a staircase between lower and upper level.

The announcement that gets me is 'this train is for xxxxx'. The new one sounds much better.

My understanding (and I apologise if this has been said before) is that the moquette on the Met, District, Circle and H&S, had the colours representing each line in the pattern.

Although off topic, the photos of the Routemasters, RTs and RTW were taken on the running day on 9th December last year to commemorate 10 years since the last conductor services ran on the 159.

Hello I've been a long term lurker, but this is my first post. It was interesting to see the comments about Carol Royle. However I'm surprised that no-one seems to have found this! www.imdb.com/title/tt0068311/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1.
