My local paper reports. “Extra early morning services added to Barking to Gospel Oak route.
The trains, leaving Barking at 5.39am and 5.54am, have been added to the timetable in a bid to create additional capacity on the route.”
I suppose they have some spare units until the Barking Riverside extension is operational but there probably not suitable equipped for all other routes.

Replacement buses on the Goblin over the Easter Weekend, does anyone know if this is for engineering work or so they can do a lot of Driver Training?

Ian Visits reports - Major disruption to c2c trains this July-August
“Due to works on the London Overground extension to Barking Riverside, services on the c2c railway lines in the area are going to be hit with several weeks of serious disruption. Work starts on Saturday 20 July and finishes on Sunday 4 August. The engineering work will close the London-bound track between Purfleet and Barking.”
I wonder if the new trains will be ready when the extension opens?

I have a hazy recollection of newspaper reports about a Jubilee line train ripping up part of the newly installed platform edging at Stratford, because it had been incorrectly installed.

I read elsewhere that a 710 did a test run last night from (I think) Liverpool Street to Enfield.
Has anyone any knowledge about this?

I’ve read elsewhere that some Arriva Driver Instructors were at Old Dalby last week and got their hands on a 710 for the first time.
Could this be the start of driver training, does anyone know if this report is correct?

I read elsewhere there were problems with the fault free testing runs and that
“The last run was on the night of 27th October. Nothing has run since then.”
I don’t know how true this might be but does anyone know what the current situation is?

Or ten trips to Crewe and back. How many such trips can be done in one night? The overnight WCML runs seem to involve Willesden depot to Crewe then a round trip to Rugby then back to Willesden Depot. I guess thats a round trip of about 500 miles by road, would I be correct in thinking railway mileage be similar?

Will the current (Sept-Oct 2017) blockade end on time or is it likely to overrun?
I ask because I'm scheduled to take a group of OAPs to the Walthamstow Wetlands on 19 October and we need to use the Goblin from Barking to Blackhorse Road.
We are considering postponing the trip to 26th October rather than cancel it, but my concern is bearing in mind the history of this work will the Line be reopened on time?
After the first weeks work, does anyone have any idea what the situation is?
Mods, if this is in the wrong place, please move it for me.

Local Paper Reporting:
"Network Rail has announced plans to close the line for seven weeks from Monday, November 27 until Sunday, January 14, subject to agreement from TfL, train and freight operators.
It also intends to close the line for five weeks between Sunday, September 17 and Sunday, October 22, with closures every weekend from now until Sunday, September 10 already confirmed.
Rail replacement buses will be provided and regular users will be automatically refunded the extra cost of travelling by Tube or train".
Anyone heard anything about this?

There is a TV ad for "Simple Be" (ladies fashions) currently being aired on some Freeview channels.
The opening scenes were filmed at an Underground Station featuring a departing S stock train.
The platform arrangement and seat alcoves remind me of Aldgate East but the exit from the station features a very old style UndergrounD roundel that I don't remember at that station.
Does anyone know where the ad was filmed?

Prompted by the unfortunate incident at Barking Station earlier this week, I was wondering how quickly or abruptly an Underground train would stop if this device is released.
Is it a sort of emergency brake or a more gradual deaccelleration?
Could someone perhaps explain what happens.

I was boarding a west bound District line train at Barking Station at about 12:45 today, when an Overground train from Gospel Oak disgorged a few passengers onto platform 7.
Does any one know why, is it the new norm?

Does anyone know if the Central Line lifts up to the new entrance are working yet ?
Would love to have a look around the station and then go on to the Building Centre in nearby Store St, but due to mobility probs need to be able to access lifts.

I wonder if the Gospel Oak re commissioning has anything to do with the proposed extension to Barking Riverside or is that likely to be completed after the current franchise.

The recently released report on the consultation about "The London Overground Extension to Barking Riverside" also points to funding still being in place.
Thanks for all your info guys, it does look as if things are moving, albeit much more slowly than I anticipated.
