Now how did I know that this talk of platform lenghts would kick off ;-0 When TfL placed the order in Aug 2006, www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/archive/3534.aspxNetwork Rail should have started planning for 4 cars and not play the waiting game... 3 years down the line and STILL no platform extensions and STILL no FULL 378 fleet running...

The easiest option would be to borrow the 378/0's and keep the 313's in service until such time all the 378/1's are delivered...

I managed to stop in the platform the other day and took a quick wander around the platform. From the quick look it seems that the platforms are complete and I looked over the railings noticed the workmen installing the hand rails for the stairs etc. Looks nice shame about the short canopy and also, my opinon, there is a route board right in front of the lift and stairs likely to get in the way.

Me suspects some dodgy dealings going on ;-) I had an instructor pass with me on Sat morning and he had a at least 6 Claphams on his 378 diagram..

Opp's I made a mistake.. Yep 7 not 8. Got this message form a mate of Tim Traynor's ...
Didn't see 136 today 18 through the car park off London Rd between the buildings 2 & 6 by the MGRs 4 moving up & down the test track A few odd cars of 378's off Ossie Rd but no full sets
If 378018 has been built you would guess that there should be 11 units out and about at Derby... The must be mostly inside.....

"the majority of the 378/0 are already in existence" only 8 are at Willesden so that leaves at least 12 more to build as we know that there are 4 378/0's outside at Derby. 12 more weeks if they build 1 a week that means mid Nov for completion then testing.. Seems too tight to me as they will have to then build 20+ 378/1's. I'll have to ask a mate of mine on the testing tomorrow to ask a Bombardier tech and get back to you Andy ...

I have heard that the production of 378/0's have stopped and 378/1's are in the build.. You must remember that the ELL need units fast as the testing date is looming and rather than take all the 378/0's they will more than likely take a few to add to what ever the ELL service requires. More than likely it will be all the 378/0's but we can keep our fingers crossed that Bombardier can build the 378/1's quick, 1 a week seems to be the target.

Can confirm that this Saturdays class 378 will be on the NLL! The 378 was actually on the WLL today, and it was 378013: i293.photobucket.com/albums/mm67/astock5000/Overground/IMG_6368.jpgi293.photobucket.com/albums/mm67/astock5000/Overground/IMG_6375.jpgi293.photobucket.com/albums/mm67/astock5000/Overground/IMG_6379.jpgThis is what I was told a few weeks ago.. Only 5 UNSOLD units are allowed on the tmd at any one time. So far 005, 007, 013, 015 & 016 have all passed mileage etc and as far as I am aware 005, 007, 015 & 016 have been sold with 013 not far behind. 008 started mileage last Tuesday as there were problems on Monday. 017 arrived on Friday night. and 1 will be delivered each week until the batch of 3 cars, that are at Derby, have run out. There are 378002/004/006/018 also visible on Litchurch Lane so I've been told. Still waiting for conformation on 378136 !!! So 4 or 5 more 3 cars to deliver then the 4 car units will go to NXG. Hope this helps.. But has 378002 been converted to a production unit yet? If after 4 or 5 more class 378/0s, the 378/1s start to be delivered, when will the other 378/0s be delivered? All I know is that 378002/004/006/018 are visible on Litchurch Lane. I'm still waiting for more details and as soon as I get them I'll post it. I guess that the 378/0's will be delivered after the ELL has recieved their full fleet and then, fingers crossed and only my opinion, the rest of the 378/0's will arrive but will be 378/2's if they use their brains as this would save a lot of agro.. but only if the platform work has been carried out as well..

Cheques don't get signed until we've run the 2000 miles fault free and all is ok... Ah yes, but wasn't there mention of no more deliveries until some of the units already delivered had been paid for? That was my point! This is what I was told a few weeks ago.. Only 5 UNSOLD units are allowed on the tmd at any one time. Well as I mentioned before 2 were ment to be sold last Friday but this never happened. Today was another "Lets try and sell some trains" day.. and until I get to willesden tonight I don't know if this did or did not happen... Will post the results in the morning if I find out.. Well as I guessed... NO SALE !!!! Wednesday is next "Lets try and sell some trains" day ;-) 378007 was out and about last night on all lines testing the P.I.S. (Passenger Information System) All was going well until we left Watford Junction then the computer gave up playing trains and was having software issues and would not log on to what ever it needed to say where it was, no not the satelite for the gps, so it failled that part of the test and went back to Willesden with it's tail between it's legs ;-( That's me done for the next 2 weeks ... I hope that when I get back atleast 2 trains are in service ;-) but won't be surprised if there not.

Was quite surprised to see my first 378 out and about (rather than sat at Willesden) today. A unit passed north on the DC lines through Harrow at about 13.35 this afternoon, didn't get an ID as I had just passed under the Headstone Drive bridge. That would have been 378013 on a test run it's having a few power problems. Very odd though that it went D.C. as the problem is with the A.C. 378013 went out last night and had the same power problem as the last 2 times and went back to the tmd and 378016 went to Bletchley instead.

Just to add salt in to the 378's wounds.. 5 & 7 didn't get sold on Friday... :-( 378013 is having a few technical problems with power packs as well....

378005 & 378007 & 378015 have finished testing and are ready to go. 378013 is nearly complete mileage wise & should be running on the D.C. tonight to gain D.C. mileage then 1 or 2 days on the mainline to complete it's 2000 miles fault free. 378016 finally went on it's first run on Thursday night and all went well but test was cancelled last night (Friday) due to severe power problems on the D.C. so it was all hands on the pumps to help stranded drivers and trains. Hope this helps...

Seems strange somersetchris that the date has been pulled again!! I was chatting to a top tech last night and he says that he can't understand why 3 units aren't being sold in one go as they are all fit for service. Will try and get more info tonight you never know the first 2 might have been sold by the time I get to Willesden ;-)
