The one thing they really haven't sorted, and I feel they get wrong, is when a 'true' Circle line train is on the inner rail passing through Edgware Road... it is described on the train as a 'Circle line via Paddington' which is bloody useless since whichever way it's going, it's going through Paddington regardless!
The regular user may well expect a see 'to Hammersmith' and so be cautious, but the less familiar could easily assume it's a Hammersmith service. I don't understand why it's not described as a via HSK service!?!

Ooh they are making it complex to the average user! I presume there's beneficial operational reasons for it though. It's amazing how confused it makes some people when they see a 'Circle' not on the circle route!
I've seen the Edgware Road-Ealing Broadway service a few times. I've also seen the Circle actually running in a circle several times, usually on Sunday evenings. Whether that's coincidence or scheduled I'm not sure.

Oh I see, so it's happening intermittently. Hadn't realised there had been an issue that weekend

OK thanks, interesting. Is it a burst pipe then, and are they actually running trains through it partially flooded if you saying its been going two weeks!?

Hello! Yesterday morning there was no Wimbledon-Edgware Road service due to flooding at Earl's Court. This didn't effect any other route (to my knowledge) and passengers were advised to change at Gloucester Road for the Circle. Just intrigued for any further info as to the cause, resolution etc. I can only presume it was the fly-under that was affected? Thanks!

I'm not swayed. The tube map isn't supposed to be geographically accurate... It's not like this 'alternative' one is particularly either. It still shows Willesden Junction being an age away from the White City/Shepard's Bush area, when in reality it's about the same distance from there as is Hammersmith.

Why is it that they still close simultaneously? Does that not require the same power? Apparently the peak power on closing is less than on opening because the door speed profile is gentler, also the start of the close cycle does not involve releasing the door locks like the open cycle does. Ah I see. That makes sense I guess, so there's not so much a spike as there is upon opening

How many 5 car units do we have working the NLL/WLL now?

Does look odd! It's like it's trying to be as geographical as it can, but as the same time not bothering at all!

Surely someone has to look into that, if not just to satisfy the intrigue! Could it have anything to do with the curvature of the platform? Are there (m)any other platforms with a similar curvature? Is the synchronisation effected at any of these?

Thanks for keeping us updated! Just past T7 on it's way to Wimbledon. It still looks strange to me to see numbers other than 070-077...! Do you think they'll have any more introduced to the main before the Tennis rolls around next month? They're certainly better for capacity!

It does seem to have gotten to the point that the 'Overground' needs it's own map and line names/numbers!
Not that it'd help some people. Most people I know refer to all National Rail services as 'the Overground'...!

Having now got quickly used to it, I don't think the new announcement is all that bad; there's just an initial shock factor of sorts when first hearing it! One thing I'm surprised at though, is that it still takes an age to announce 'XX doors will not open here' at SDO locations, after the Mind the Gap message. I would have thought something may have been done about that!?

Surely though, just because the last trains (that would be leaving central around 00:00-01:00?) aren't full, doesn't mean there won't be people out partying in the wee hours who want to get home in the 3 o'clock hour (and later!)... so you can't just assume it wouldn't be used.

Well the way it's written, it still implies (to me) the driver was aware and just carried on until flagged by the public (although of course doesn't state if was told to!). Maybe I'm just nit-picking! The main point is, what a wired thing for vandals to do!

That is just bizarre!! Seems strange though that it sates the driver knew about it upon leaving the depot, but they only took it out of service once a member of the public complained!??

Thanks for the post, I heard the new 'mind the gap' this morning, and wondered if I was going mad or if it really had changed! Agree with the OP, it does sound awful!

When passing through Old Street about half an hour ago there was a message, "Ladies and gentlemen, when using tablets or mobile phones please be careful around the edge of the platform" (or something very similar to that). It had the sound of an announcement recorded by one of the station staff for repeated play rather but whether it was in response to a particular person I don't know (I was on the escalator when I heard it). I wonder if this is a local initiative or something wider? They've been making announcements like that at Victoria D&C for a long time now. I'd say at least a year.

Some poor station staff at West Brompton just been shouted at by a passenger; "why are the train's stopping so far down the f***ing platform", "because there'll soon be 5 cars for this service", "well why don't they wait until there is, it's bloody stupid..."
Must be fun...! :S

Thanks for the info! I was at Greenford station on Monday and saw a train using this line and wondered which ones were doing so. Also due to the works, FGW trains will be running to/from Penzance from/to London Waterloo, over the SWML... something that also took me by surprise when one went whizzing past Wimbledon station on Monday!

It's a shame the 'gift wrap' stock isn't reserved for District MainLine services only. S have been the only stock to operate over the HamCity&Circle for a year now, so most regular passengers won't see them as 'new'. Think they'd have more effect just travelling the EalingB, Rich & Upmin routes..!

Ahh, my bad. Yes I did mean the other end, i.e 'front' doors on departure. I've just not noticed the small access extension. Should double check before posting really! Sorry. Back to LO then...!

Also, as it is a terminal platform, and the driver needs access to both cabs, the whole 5 cars train would have to be on the platform. I don't think the S7's fully fit in Platform 3 at Hammersmith (H&C); at least the first set of doors are cut out for Passenger use, and from what I recall the Drivers always enter from the carriage. I think there's a brick wall in the way, but would have to double check...!

Nice to see the second entrance at Shepherds Bush being confirmed I happened to walk past the second entrance the other day. It looks pretty much complete already! The gateline's all in, and the departure screen in the entrance is live, so hopefully it'll actually be open pretty soon!

Is there a reason why the numbers keep changing? And are they limited to just 3 at the moment?
