Ladies & Gents,
Some of you may be aware that an account belonging to 'stevo' was suspended yesterday pending further investigations by the forum staff.
We can now reveal that this account belongs to someone we all know variously as "Ed Fox", "harlesden", "Jim Obasa" and "charleyfarely".
Following various exchanges over the years between the forum staff and this person, they were told in December 2012 that they were no longer welcome on this forum. It goes without saying therefore that we've now banned this latest account.
The Admin team would like to publicly express our acknowledgement and thanks to the Moderator team for the hard work they put in leading to the swift conclusion of this matter.

Ladies & Gents, To celebrate our 8th birthday on the Proboards format (18th February 2013), we told you we were going to migrate District Dave's London Underground Forum to Proboard's new version 5 software and make some changes to the layout over the weekend of 16th/17th February 2013. We're pleased to announce that those changes are almost complete and we're now up and running again. Our tutorials area is taking longer than anticipated to bring up to date so we've decided that rather than keep the forum shut down in maintenance mode, its better to re-open the doors and catch up on the tutorials when time permits. Our completely separate test forum over at www.ddtest96.proboards.com remains open and available should you wish to test things out prior to posting for real on this forum. The layout changes have simplified things a little (sub boards removed & duplicate general areas merged) and mean we're now much more railway focused. There is an added incentive to join up and log in now though - there's a members only area and that's where you'll now find the non railway stuff. When you log in for the first time [following the software migration], please ensure you log in using your original username and current password. You'll be asked to confirm your email address or add a new email address - this will set up your Proboards global log in account. If you created an account on our test forum at www.ddtest96.proboards.com and you use the same email address here, your account will become associated with that global account. On each subsequent visit to the forum, you should always log in using your email address in the username field. The Admin Team.

The rules have been amended to take account of version 5 software changes such as avatars increasing to 150X150 pixels and automatic scaling of images within posts. Also added is reference to the account ' Forum Staff'. This account is for use by the Moderator team and can be used as a means of contacting the forum staff rather than trying to work out who is most likely to be online first. In addition to this facility is the email address districtdavesforum@gmail.comThe primary purpose of the email address is to allow for a means of contact by those whose accounts are either remaining in our approvals list for longer than a reasonable amount of time, or have been rejected and thus a person wishes to request a review regarding that rejection.

Many thanks all who have posted so far...
Those who have indicated that they can made a morning meet, will all be receiving a PM this weekend.
Yes something is planned (everything is above board), however there are strict restrictions, in particular to numbers... and that limit has now been reached.
Members are more than welcome to continue posting here, perhaps wishing to arrange an alternative meet/trip... and if any more spaces become available (to be honest, this is unlikely) a PM will be sent in the order of those who post further below.
Apologies for any disappointment.

There are Three groups of staff on this forum. All staff members are first & foremost ordinary contributing members of the forum - it just so happens that they have the power to take action * when the rare occasion warrants it. Global ModeratorModerators use the group colour Green throughout the Forum. The Global Moderator team consists of antharro , Dom K , goldenarrow , metman , and superteacher . The team all have the powers to intervene across all boards on the Forum, including the Chat Board. The Moderator team also has access to a special account on the forum using the member " Forum Staff" - this is used mostly for announcements regarding social meetings and not continually monitored. AdministratorsAdministrators use the group colour Red throughout the Forum. The administration team is made up of Dstock7080 , londonstuff , rincew1nd , Tom and whistlekiller2000 . In addition to Global Moderator powers across the entire forum, the administration team also handle member discipline issues and preside over the general policy & direction of the forum. AdvisorsThe Consultants are Chris W , Colin , & prjb. Advisors can access all areas of the forum (including forum staff only areas), but are not active in the running of the forum. They will log in on a regular basis of once or twice a week, contribute to the open forum and scan both Admin and Moderator boards for pertinent issues. Their role is mainly to give constructive and insightful advice on pertinent matters that can then be considered by the Admin Team or to report to the Admin team anything that requires higher authority Staff Emeritus
Staff Emeritus are Rich32 , seaeagle , solidbond and tubeprune . They are not expected to be as active as other members of staff and have this role primarily to recognise their previous contribution to the forum.
The late great District Dave (Dave Maloney) holds his 'founder' status forever.
* Staff powers are shown in rule 11 (click here to see our forum rules).

With membership numbers having now increased to more than 1050 recently, the Admins have been considering the direction of the forum, so that we have the staff in place who can look after it not only today, but also into the future.
MODERATORS In the past few months Dstock7080 has joined the Admins and two Moderators have left the forum for different personal reasons. Therefore the Admins have invited other members to step up and become Mods. We are pleased to announce that Antharro, Londonstuff, Metman and Rincew1nd have all accepted the offer.
MEMBERSHIP MODERATOR Many members will also recall that SE13 had been a Moderator. He stepped down for personal reasons last year. We are pleased that SE13 is now able to return to a specialist role of Membership Moderator and also Moderator for the Chat area of the forum.
HEAD MODERATOR As the number of Moderation staff has now increased to 13, the Admins thought that with so many Mods, not to mention an unlucky number for any superstitious members, that we should ask one to perform the role of Head Moderator. This role has been offered to MRFS42, who has kindly accepted the invitation.
ADMINISTRATOR CHANGES Due to external commitments upon their time, Colin and tubeprune have decided to take a step back from acting as day-to-day Admins. They will remain part of the forum staff team, becoming... Consultants. That means that the admin team, as of 19/08/13 is ChrisW, Dstock7080, Phil and Seaeagle.
CONSULTANTS The Founder status has been renamed to Consultant. This role allows former Admins to have a say regarding the direction of the forum, although they may not log in every day. It also allows hugely trusted and valued members to step across into this role... prjb and reganorak being the two who have been invited and who have agreed to take on this challenge.
FORUM FOUNDER The late District Dave (David Maloney) was the forum’s founder... and also will be remembered as so. This new forum status is there to reminding us all of the inspiration he has given to so many.
The Administrators believe that these changes will allow the forum to grow into the future, with a firm foundation of trusted and level headed staff. We hope that forum members will welcome these developments.

Ladies & Gents, The Admin team have set the date, time and location of the Christmas meet for 2012: Date: Saturday 15th December 2012 Time: 13:00 till early evening Location: Penderals Oak (situated midway between Holborn & Chancery Lane) Whilst the Penderals Oak is "family friendly", we do ask that those under 18 years of age carry emergency contact details and inform their folks at home of their whereabouts - even better, bring them along too.

Regretfully MetControl has decided to stand down from his role as a Moderator and leave the forum as a member, for personal reasons.
We wish to publicly record our thanks to MetControl for his contributions to this forum.

Ladies & Gents, Daylight saving time in the UK ended at 02:00 British Summer Time (BST) on Sunday 28th October 2012 with clocks going back one hour to 01:00 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). As a result the forum clock, which you can see when signed out or viewing as a guest, has been amended to reflect the change to GMT. Members are reminded to amend their profiles so that they see the correct time when signed in (ie, set 'Currently Observing DST' to 'No'). There is a tutorial showing you how to do this here: www.districtdavesforum.co.uk/index.cgi?board=intros&action=display&thread=9170&page=1Naturally members in other parts of the world should only amend their profiles as & when required by their local time zones.

Ladies & Gents,
With regard to the recent last 'A' stock in normal passenger service and the posts surrounding that event, the forum staff wish to make it known that they do not condone illegal activity or the breaking of London Underground's Byelaws & conditions of carriage.
Whilst this forum provides members with a place to express their own views and opinions, they are just that; individual view points.
This forum remains completely neutral and does not associate itself with any person present at the event. Nobody present at the event was representing this forum and any claim to the contrary is refuted.
The Admins will take a very dim view if members boast on the forum about themselves acting inappropriately or of breaking LU/TfL rules or byelaws. Action would be taken against those members who post in this manner.
Regards
The Admin Team

The Admin team would like to thank all who have posted in threads relating to S Stock deliveries... Sadly the news that S Stock deliveries are being targeted by vandals means that the Admins need to review what information is posted on the open forum. Sadly we therefore must instruct members not to post news of expected deliveries before the event. PLEASE READ THE ANNOUNCEMENTAs per the announcement, PM ChrisW of forthcoming delivery news. He will update the delivery list as soon as possible AFTER the event.

It appears that vandals are intentionally targeting deliveries of new S Stock trains, to 'enjoy' their illegal/criminal pastime.
It also goes without saying that trespassing on the railway is both illegal and highly dangerous. Anyone partaking in such actions clearly is a liability to themselves, their loved ones and railway employees, who have to deal with any event and aftermath.
The District Dave Admins acknowledge the enthusiasm and keenness that members may have in sharing delivery news, however we are also aware that the forum can be read by anyone with a computer that has access to the internet.
The Admins cannot allow the District Dave LU Forum to be a potential source of information for vandals, so that they can target deliveries. Consequently the Admins have taken the regrettable decision to instruct members not to report expected deliveries on the open forum.
Instead PM Dstock7080, who will report deliveries after the event and who will also update the list of units that have arrived on LU metals.
We understand this may cause disappointment for some, who may have intended to capture images of deliveries en-route, however in cases such as this, safety and security concerns must take priority.
BE AWARE The forum Admins take this issue very seriously.
Members who continue to post future delivery details will consequently be viewed as having intentionally posted this information so that others with questionable intentions can act upon it. Their membership of the forum would therefore be withdrawn to prevent a recurrence.

Ladies & Gents,
Lee Peppiatt was banned from this forum in 2009.
It has recently come to the forum staff's attention that 'signalfailure', 'offspringmadboy', 'eurostarengineer', and 'torquewrench' are all accounts associated with Lee Peppiatt.
It goes without saying that his latest account, 'torquewrench', has now been suspended and we are on the lookout for him re-joining in another guise. We'd ask members to help us by keeping an eye out for any new members that appear to be this character.
We'd also like to express publically our gratitude to the Moderator team as they put in a lot of work which directly resulted in the outcome we've come to.
The Admin Team.

Ladies & Gents,
Following a large number of complaints, both publically and privately, regarding content & style of posts by certain members; and given that members have either left the forum or are contemplating doing so as a direct result of the issue......
The Admin team have taken the decision to remove the ability to post on the open forum from the individuals concerned. They are still members of the forum and can access their PM's.
We hope this action will clear the cloud that is currently residing over the forum.
The Admin Team.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READThe Forum staff have been informed by a reliable source, that a forum member has been convicted of raping teenage boys, using railway forums/chatrooms to come into contact with younger enthusiasts. A PRESS ARTICLE has been published regarding the offenses and conviction. The forum staff know the account used on this forum by the individual (they were also a member of at least one other railway forum), which has been permanently disabled. Gossip or discussion regarding this matter or the identity of the account is not acceptable on the forum. IF YOU HAVE BEEN APPROACHEDThe offenses seem to have taken place between 2006 and August 2011. We have no knowledge if the victims are members here, however if any younger member has been approached by another member (either directly on the open forum, via PM or e-mail) who has then behaved inappropriately or indecently, the forum staff would ask that you speak with a trusted adult and consider contacting the Police. CONTACT DETAILS FOR HELPChildline – 0800 1111 Metropolitan Police: Barkingside Police Station – investigation lead by Detective Chief Inspector Carl Mehta Please also feel free to contact a District Dave Forum Administrator in confidence. DISTRICT DAVE FORUM MEETSIt is precisely because the District Dave forum staff know that the forum has younger members, that we have always encouraged younger members to bring along a trusted and responsible adult (preferably a parent) whenever attending a forum meet. MEETING OTHER MEMBERSIf younger forum members are ever contacted by another member who wants to meet, the forum staff would strongly recommend that they similarly take a along a trusted adult and report inappropriate requests/behaviour.

Ladies & Gents,
Following a number of inappropriate uses of the "Report to Mod" facility, we have decided to remove the feature.
Recently the "Report to Mod" facility was being used simply because one particular member didn't like being asked to justify their position by another member, or simply because a member disagreed with another's view.
These are things which should be settled in the thread concerned, by the members themselves; this is not what the forum staff are here for.
If you have a genuine issue which can only be dealt with by a member of forum staff, you are of course welcome to send a Private Message to any of the team - be warned though, we will not intervene where you've been asked to justify your view/knowledge, nor just because you might disagree with something posted by another member.
The Admin Team.

There are seemingly a fair amount of staff on here who, publicly or privately, doubt whether that is within management's grasp at even the best of times... ADMIN: Ben, that is a pretty sweeping statement not only about TfL/LU staff in general but also the integrity and honesty of the LU staff on this forum. Please back up these allegations with firm evidence or withdraw the statement.
Thank you.

Ladies and Gents, On Saturday 10th (and Sunday 11th) March, Acton Depot is holding one of their open weekends. Forum tradition dictates that the Saturday is one of our regular meets. For the benefit of members, new and old, we usually meet up for 11am at the depot entrance to introduce ourselves/catch up on gossip and spend a good few hours enjoying all the attractions the depot has to offer. At around 3pm we take a short walk up the road to the Red Lion and Pineapple for refreshments and a social. The pub is at 281 High Street, Acton. The pub has been used on previous occasions, and is perfect for good food, drinks and also to allow our younger members to join up as it's child friendly. New members are particularly welcome and can be assured that 'the usual suspects' will take you under their wing, if need be. Any members under 18: we do ask that you carry emergency contact details with you, have parental consent (or even better, bring them along too) and some form of identity. For parents peace of mind, those working within the transport industry are CRB checked. There will of course be a forum meet phone for people to contact each other, details of which will follow at a later time. Any other thoughts and suggestions are welcome, and a rough idea of who will be attending is always helpful too.

This is to inform members of the suspension, until Feb 1st, of member "chrisvandenkieboom".
Several members have complained about his posting, not only thinking he knows everything (more even than current LU trainops......), but also contradicting anyone who dares to challenge any of his inaccurate statements, even going as far as to demand photographic proof.
This suspension is a warning to him and a relief to the rest of you patient ones who've had to put up with him. If he transgresses again on his return he will be removed permanently.
Thread is locked - we don't need comments (or congratulations.....).
