As is fairly well known, Northern line trains on the S/B City branch cut out the last set of doors at Euston.
What happens to the N/B terminators? Do they cut out the last set of doors? I know the stopping board at the tailwall [headwall for the N/B terminators] is roughly in the space where the last set of doors on a S/B train does be? Why the anomaly, if at all?
Thanks in advance.

When i worked at Euston as the train came in it would be the first set of doors that were cut out. The driver would have to leave the cab via the "J" door as the cab doors would be in the tunnel.
Once the changed ends ready to go towards Kings Cross they were in the normal stopping position as if they would of come from Camden Town And the rear doors had been Cut Out.
Next time your at Euston if you look into the tailwall end of the tunnel you will see the stopping mark is about 6 or 7 ft into the tunnel.

I think you are talking about NB CX branch there, NB city branch has the extended new platforms built to connect with the Vic. Its been a while now but I think its not possible to reverse back to Kings Cross, my memory defeats me. Sorry.

Trains reversing North to South at Euston run via the Euston loop into the SB city platform where the driver changes ends and runs back south. And yes they would have to have the north end set of doors cut out as the platform is very tight, if they didn't pull right up the train wouldn't be clear of the signal/blockjoint at the south end.

I did but it's vague tfc. Just to be crystal clear you need to add at the start....... Arrive at Kings Cross NB, detrain and wait for the signal to take you into the Euston loop, then..... ;-)

Don't be mean to tfc, she's lovely! And the thread is about Euston anyhow. You're talking about J10, right?

Arrive at Kings Cross NB, detrain and wait for the signal to take you into the Euston loop, then..... ;-) To be fair the OP was asking about NB terminators in the SB City platform at Euston - so to me it was pretty clear what was being discussed here. I think you're being unnecessarily pedantic, but let's not fall out about it. If you were a driver on the Northern line and you were asked to reverse north to south at Euston you would know exactly what you were being asked to do. Edited to add: and the train doesn't *have* to detrain at Kings Cross as it's a colour light signalled move passengers can be carried. Although I tend to instruct drivers to tip out at Kings Cross as it means they can be held in the Euston loop as required without holding passengers in the pipe, it's perfectly ok for the driver to make an announcement at Kings Cross advising passengers for stations beyond Euston to alight and anyone who wants Euston can remain on the train.

Yep, J10 sounds familar. I was taught to always detrain at KX because of the explaination to passengers at Euston.

I have seen northbound Euston terminators on the describers. However, it's like Tower Hill if going further - you're better off alighting at KX so to do - as you are with Monument on a Tower Hill train.

The 1995 stock can show Kings Cross as a destination if the intention is to detrain there, however can the platform describers show KIngs Cross?

Last night we had one showing Euston but detraining at KX. I needed to stop somewhere for cash and Euston would have been better but you can't argue with a detrain. I got that train because the previous Edgware was too full.
I walked to Euston getting cash on the way. At Euston I headed for the Bank branch partly as I had slightly more time, only to find the train describer out of sync - showing "High Barnet" for Edgware and vice versa.
