It is best that the H&C and Circle stay combined! I agree, I was just saying that it doesn't have to be. Also, why not make the District line services clearer to passengers by showing Ealing - Tower Hill, Wimbledon - Edgware Road seperately on District line maps in the trains?

Because it then causes confusion when, due to engineering work or service disruption, we start running services that look impossible on the map.

I know that the District diverts trains even when there is no disruption at all (maybe they just like diverting trains). On the Met, they have 'fast' trains shown seperately, and it shows all trains stopping between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Moor Park going to Watford but it doesn't mean they always do what the map shows. Couldn't there just be a note saying that services run differently when there is disruption.

During the peak's the service pattern changes as well, so separate maps would again be nonsense.

Watfords are semi-fast, Amersham fast and Uxbridge all stations in the peaks. The note at Wembley Park makes things quite clear! The District is actually more complex-Ealing-Tower Hill, Wimbleware, Richmond-Up, Wimbledon-Up(Barking on suns), Mansion House/Tower Hill/Parsons/Barking and Dagenham terminators in the peaks! The Met has the odd Chesham and a few Harrows/Rickys here and there!

Modern Railways report (June issue) that the plan to lengthen the new 6-car trains on the H & C to 7-cars will be shelved until after the 2012 Olympics. They also suggest that S6s will be built before the Metropolitan stock. This means that the A Stock will continue to run after the C Stock has been replaced. It also says that the new Metropolitan stock will be delivered as 7-car trains, “with a car added later after infrastructure improvements”. Mmmm. That will put some cats amongst the pigeons north of Wembley Park. londonconnections.blogspot.com/2008/05/london-underground-s-stock-plan.html

Very interesting! I'm not sure how true any of that is! In my opinion however, 7 car Metropolitan Line trains would be a total waste of time, and frankly the line capacity would be so dented that they might as well not bother making the trains! Hopefully somebody can clear all this up!

The 7 car Met. S stock doesn't make sense, because the A stock are 8 car, so there shouldn't be a problem with 8 car S stock, and isn't the pre-production S stock train 8 car?

The A stock lovers will be happy if that is true... there doesn't seem to be many C stock lovers.. so this might be a good thing I agree with that, but I would like a C69/77 to be preserved, as long as there is an operational A60/62.

There is no space at the depot (the standard stock may go to get the A stock in!), you lot better start saving up for the C/D stocks!

Actually, I heard that the contract hadn't been confirmed yet with bombardier from a member of their team, and he said the contract could still be cancelled! I imagine that things have moved along now.
