I am a Home inspector qualified to carry out Home insformation packs. I use a laser measuring device. They are relatively cheap. That would be a good way to quickly and safely measure the bits required!

Although I wasn't around in the 30's, I'm sure I can archive anything needed regarding Arsenal home games. I have a fairly exhaustless list of all manner of trivia, statistics and so on regarding the club, whether or not it will be of any use is debatable, but if you need anything, shout me!
I also have pictures from the area circa 1930/31/32 and know of a place where such pictures can be obtained. Although they do centre on Highbury, much of the surrounding area can be seen. Again, I don't know if they will be any use, but the offer is there.

Easier way... find a vacant space and walk 'toe to heel' across the platform, then measure your feet, multiply by the amount of steps taken!

If you want rough measurements - 7m = platform width, figured by pacing. I wasn't sure which pillars you meant, there are stone and iron ones, approximately 220cm high for the metal ones, but that was harder for me to work out. I'm short! (ish.)

Believe it or not, since I'd been doing lates and therefore driving it, it was the first time I'd been down on the platform all week. No wonder I've been bored...

Whilst it won't help with heights of canopies etc, I am using aerial pictures to scale various lineside features for my model of the Eastern end of the Central. I use www.maps.live.com. There is a very useful "birdseye view" facility.

I went past Arnos Grove earlier on today and it seemd smaller than that from the train. I suspose that it's the angle from the train.
