There are some rumours that are campaigns for the Piccadilly line to stop at Ravenscourt Park and Stamford Brook to relieve on the District Line. The Piccadilly [glow=red,2,300]may stop[/glow] at Ravenscourt Park but I don't think [shadow=red,left,300]Stamford Brook[/shadow]

District line services stop at all the stations during the day, the picc line stops in the late evening and early morning. Personally i wouldnt want the current set up to change. There is no point having two lines that stiop at most of the stations, it defeats the point IMHO.

The part I don't understand is how a line running tube trains to Heathrow and Uxbridge could possibly relieve a line running subsurface trains to Richmond and Ealing...

The Picc Line running times are long enough as it is, with a Cockfosters - Uxbridge trip being about 2hours long, and i dont see how changing what line stops at the local stations between Acton Town & Hammersmith will help customers.

It's too bad that all of TfL's money is being spent on Crossrail and ELLX - reopening York Road and diverting the running tunnels north of the station to create a 1000' reversing siding would work wonders for Piccadilly reliability...

I've never heard these rumours, although the old (ancient) one about Picc trains stopping all day at Turnham Green regularly crops up.
There's no way the Picc could ever stop at Stamford Brook anyway because there's no eastbound platform! There's no way they'd stop on the west but not the east, except maybe the first or last train(s).

Alan's absolutely right on this. It is an old chestnut that comes up from time-to-time, mainly inspired by the users of Turnham Green who 'object' to having to wait a whole 5 mins for a District service.
Personally I doubt that there'll ever be a change even to TG's operating patterns, let alone any other stations coming into the equation.

The good residents of TG ought to go spend some time in Sarf Lahndon and seee just how good a 5min service with Real Trains really is! Personally I doubt that there'll ever be a change even to TG's operating patterns, let alone any other stations coming into the equation. I think that out of sheer fatigue, LU may eventually widen the stopping hours of Piccadilly services at TG - e.g. they call from start of traffic to 0700 on weekdays and Saturdays, 0800 on Sundays, and begin calling again from 2230 to close of traffic on weekdays, 2200 to close of traffic on Saturdays and Sundays. It may not seem like much, but it would improve connections on the Richmond branch at both times of the day, with all the trains streaming out of Ealing. I still think the best way to improve the Piccadilly Line is to reopen York Road and divert the running tunnels to build a siding (or set of sidings, like at Liverpool Street) - the benefits would be enormous!

TG is a different kettle of fish, in someways it would make more sense for picc trains to stop there all day, because of the interchange to Richmond. However i still dont think the picc line should stop between Hammersmith & Acton!
