As there is a Hammersmith to upminster service being run this weekend via kings cross, how is this being set up on the S stock? Are they running as h and c trains to Hammersmith, but at aldgate east, switching to district line trains?
For the return going westbound, I would guess they run as district line trains to barking, and then switch to being h and c trains to Hammersmith from there?

It is possible to setup code 407 at Upminster, which is actually the H&C code for “Barking to Hammersmith H&C” but although the outside displays will show “Hammersmith & City Line - Hammersmith - All stations” the digital voice will not be activated until it finds the true line of route st Barking WB. In the opposite direction there is no code from Hammersmith-Upminster, so either Aldgate East or Barking would suffice then Upminster.

Can the DMI's at Hammersmith (Circle and H&C) be set up to display Upminster as a destination ? Only since 4LM has gone live. These *should* track correctly until Paddington (Sub), when the feed reverts to the legacy TD (Train Describer) system. Edgware Road cabin does not have an Upminster description, so the trains will be described as ‘B’ - Barking (nominally the bay road, but in this instance to stand out from the H&Cs running normally to ‘BS’, Barking then Sidings). Once control passes to the SCC at Baker Street this B TD is then changed (I can’t remember if at Baker 5 or King’s Cross 2 - only certain areas can have changed applied) to Upminster and will display/be described correctly for the rest of the journey. On the west, I believe a Hammersmith via King’s Cross TD is available from Upminster; if not it certainly is by Barking. This practice is identical to the handful of trains that run to/from Upminster at the start/end of service, and the inter peak stabling trains.

I was sure there was a direct Upminster-Hammersmith CIS code provided, but it appears not! I have been misinformed by my tame C&H driver. 😬

Did I see an automatic train on test travelling between Chiswick Park and Turnham Green on the slow? Didn’t think that section has had the new system installed yet.

Did I see an automatic train on test travelling between Chiswick Park and Turnham Green on the slow? Very possible, there was a once every 2 hours shuttle S-stock test train running between High St Ken and Ealing Bdway on both days.

The re-stabling on the Friday night / Monday morning was the most complex, with 5 trains to move.

Very possible, there was a once every 2 hours shuttle S-stock test train running between High St Ken and Ealing Bdway on both days. It is again worth clarifying that the train would not have been operating automatically within this section, as the ATO testing was for SMA (Signalling Migration Area) 5 only. Trains would have cycled in and out of the test area in order to carry out these works, in the same way that previous testing has happened elsewhere. I would have been very surprised if these trains actually ran as scheduled based off previous testing of this nature; it is generally much more adhoc, even when a timetable is provided. Fitting them around services without delay is then passed to the skill of the signal operator.
