Although Colin D has forwarded on today's PM from humbug, its most helpful if you could send messages to all three of us on the quiz team to ensure we don't miss any. Thanks

humbug 's PM was the only guess (that made it to me anyway) and it was correct that the right inset is Clifford's Tower in York, seen here in a photograph by howda62 (click for a larger version) No guesses at the main or other inset mean no more clues though

It's not South Woodford, but I can see why you might think that. Does this version help? (click for a larger version)

Inset one appears to have a Balkan [or possibly Armenian/Azerbaijani] chap on a plinth. Is it one of Dimitri's pictures from somewhere South and East of the Urals?

This is one of Dmitri's pictures, but this one is from Europe. This version may help: (click for a larger version)

Looks pretty well "tooled up" - Could it be a statue of Kemel Attaturk - therefore somewhere in Turkey - if not Gallipoli even

It's not Turkey and it's not Attaturk - indeed I suspect that the suggestion it was Attaturk could offend somewhat

Well, that's an interesting clue Chris. In that case, how about a diametrically opposed chap - A statue of Gavrilo Princip somewhere in the former Yugoslavia [arguably somewhere nearer Serbia than Croatia].

The statue isn't in the former Yugoslavia, and were he alive today he probably wouldn't appreciate being called a Serb.

Those clues suggest a Greek - probably from the war of independence in the 19th century.

He wasn't Greek and post-dates the Greek war of independence

Well this is really interesting. Not for nothing were the Balkans called "The cockpit of Europe". So 20th century & not terrible enamoured of being called a Serb or a Turk. Could he be an Armenian [or perhaps even a Kurd]? - they had good cause in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to be not on good terms with Turkey.

He's neither an Armenian nor a Kurd, but he was alive in the late 19th to early 20th century and his statue is in the Balkans. Today his beef with the Serbs would likely be greater than his beef with the Turks, but in his day I guess it was the opposite.

Albania - statue of Isa Boletini in Shkoder (Scutari) on the border with Kosovo.
Not the Scutari (Uskudar) in Istanbul associated with Florence Nightingale
