Apologies if this has been raised before (I cannot find any references in a search of the site), but I'm wondering whether there will be total separation between the two lines as between Barons Court and Acton Town West/Northfields, with no 'working over' possible, as I believe there is between the Met. and Jubilee lines between Finchley Road and Wembley Park (except for access to/from Neasden depot), or will the present arrangements be continued? I should think that the loss of operational flexibility, and District access to/from Barons Court Siding for engineers' trains and the fact that the two lines share the same tracks between Acton Town West and Hangar Lane Jn would make such a separation impracticable, but it would be good to know what is planned.

The re-signalling has been cancelled. I believe the plan was to design it such that the lines would operate separately on that section.

Finally got round to reading through the lates programmes and investment committee report which mentions the Piccadilly Interim Control Upgrade (PICU).
South Ken is gradually taking over Piccadilly supervision from Earls Court with Acton Town to South Harrow being the latest area to migrate.
Who now controls the shared track through Ealing Common and will this change when ATO commences?
Edit: Former Acton Town desk has already ceased

The Acton Town desk migrated on morning of 24 February, with signalling for Acton Town, Hanger Lane junction, South Harrow and Ealing Broadway. Next (and last for the Piccadilly Line) will be the Northfields desk, including Northfields, Hounslow Central, Hatton Cross and Heathrow. |

ATO will certainly change it but how it’s done no idea as the Piccadilly will still need to be controlled from South Kensington but the District will be done at Hammersmith

Area's which will still have "normal trains" running on them and therefore require physical colour light or shunt signals are to be known as interoperable area's. The current physical colour light and shunt signals are known as the legacy system when talking about the new CTBC (Communications Based Train Control) world.
In simple terms it'll either be underlayed, so the CTBC signalling controlled from the new Hammersmith SCC (Service Control Centre) will control the legacy signalling, or overlayed which means the new CTBC system will be driven by legacy system.
So, where dual running of CTBC and legacy rolling stock is to take place, the CTBC element will work like this:
Metropolitan Harrow on the Hill to Amersham - underlayed
Metropolitan Rayners Lane to Uxbridge - underlayed
District East Putney to Wimbledon - overlayeded
District Gunnersbury to Richmond - overlayed
District Acton Town to Ealing Broadway - overlayed

If it happens latest talk on the 4 track from Barons Court to Ealing Broadway is that it will wait until the Picc has its own upgrade
