Dstock7080 , There's also now a shown connection between the GOBLIN at Upper Holloway and the Northern line at Archway. If the map editors had applied the same standard as Lancaster Gate (just a dagger) to Custom House then it wouldn't be overtly obvious but with the station being struck out, it's much more conspicuous. Art on the Underground have already announced that Marc Camille Chaimowicz is the artist chosen for the next tube map cover which as this publicity photo below shows, has December 2017 on it. The commission date ranges between 11 Dec 2017 and 15 June 2018. In the past, such a range has been suggestive of multiple editions of the pocket tube map featuring the same cover art but with minor variations in the map which this latest raft of changes would fall under. It will be interesting to see weather management will just bite the bullet with just under five months to go until TfL Rail to Heathrow brings a set of stations and connector blobs onto the map. Although, everything above suggests the roll out of a new pocket map is imminent.

Almost redolent of Snakes & Ladders, which could be an interesting take, though we hope not, on future connectivity!

How far in advance of lift (and escalator) works commencing are they finalised?

How far in advance of lift (and escalator) works commencing are they finalised? Depends on the complexity or urgency of the location in question, some closures get over 2-5months notice if the assets are coming to the end of their natural cycle. However, if its a hastily put together renewal programme due to failing components then it could spring up with under a months notice. Hillingdon's lifts were effectively subject to a temporary closure (I think in 2013) that had less than a weeks notice due to a raft of mechanical and electrical failures that called for extensive work two years earlier than planned.

Interesting. Why the dagger at Holborn? Does that mean they got the go ahead for the rebuild or there are plans for it, or is it to do with Crossrail? Sorry for all the questions, but I can't get to sleep at the moment and I thought I would have a look on here.

There were escalator works at Holborn last time I was there, meaning there was no interchange in the morning peak. I can't remember if that's still ongoing though.

When were you there last? I think I read somewhere the escalators there were broken, but maybe I'm wrong. How come you're still up? I thought I was the only one looking on here this time of night.

If it was distributed to stations early and a few lucky people picked up a copy it could be a rare edition.

I've just noticed that the current maps on the website are dated July 2017, whereas the most recent I had in my digital collection was May 2017. There seem to have been exactly 3 changes between versions. In decreasing order of significance: 1. Victoria gains step-free access to the Victoria Line only. This means the station goes from 1 blob to 2, with the Victoria line step-free-to-train white-on-blue blob being placed north of the Circle line and the SSR solid-white circle indicating no-step free access is west of the Victoria line. 2. The grid lines are slightly thicker making them more prominent. 3. The shade of grey used for even numbered zones is very slightly lighter (#EDEDED vs #E9E9E9)

July 2017 version was only an online version. Paper versions were May 2017 and the current December 2017/ January 2018 version.

How many times a year do they bring out new paper maps? The roll out of the pocket maps is as sporadic as the networks growth, when excluding major network growth it's usually a biannual fixture as station closures/refurbs/step free works necessitate temporary changes to the map that are long lived enough to become fixtures on the map. Sometimes consecutive editions of the pocket map have had the same artwork as changes to the network have taken place between the remit of the commission for the art work from Art on the Underground which typically lasts 6 months.

Which begs the question; are there actually copies of a December 2017 pocket map around ? Apologies if this is turning into a case of Terminal Quote Syndrome, memory seems to make me think that editions of the pocket tube map in the not to distant past have been at a month (or two) later than from that which is shown on the front. Given that a handful of station notices are now either outdated or not presently correct, I wonder weather last minute changes are being pencilled in or weather the roll out is simply being held back for delayed projects such as Custom House.

I see they have got Bond Street correct in the January 18 map, but Tottenham Court Road is still wrong (Northern line needs to be shown as step-free to train)

Just made an interesting discovery, the maps that are produced by TfL for commercial licensing and 3rd party use have had the correct set of (yet to be at the time of publication) amendments since the twilight days of November meaning that the ones popping up in stations must have been produced comfortably before this date predating the inclusion of the Overground on the preliminary concept Night Tube Map.

Edit: I just checked the page on the TfL website for Custom House, and it appears that they've moved the reopening date from late December to mid-January. Custom House reopens Monday 8 January.

Just saw the press release. I actually went by it yesterday, the station looks like it's ready for opening, there's just lots of temporary blue plywood covering the Crossrail entrances as you would expect.
