On the Hammersmith/ Circle line platforms, occassionally, one of the platform announcements is given by a person whose voice is similar to that of a young child. I was wondering if this is indeed the case and, if so, under what circumstances (i.e. is there a particular occasion being commemorated etc?) has this child been allowed to give platform announcements?

When I was working at Baker St couple weeks ago I heard it too. I forgot to ask the CSS about it.
Have to say I don't like it, safety announcements should be clear and serious.

on the last Thompson flight i took the safety video was presented by two children and everyone paid serious attention, making these messages different makes people listen at least once.
I heard something on the radio today about a Pimlico Supervisors, (think) daughter making some recordings but at the time I thought he was just talking about Pimlico station. I have no idea if these are the recordings or if there is more than one set about.

There is also an announcement recorded by a child at Vauxhall. Whilst I am not particularly a fan, I believe the announcement is relevant to children in the context of pushchairs -- but I could be wrong, as it wasn't the best-quality recording!

Have to say I don't like it, safety announcements should be clear and serious. It's hard to disagree with that, however I don't see how those two criteria exclude a child's voice being used. AIUI the reason for using the voice of a child is because it is different to 'the norm' - members here often complain that there are too many announcements and this leads to important ones being lost in the 'noise'. There is also an announcement recorded by a child at Vauxhall <snip> I believe the announcement is relevant to children in the context of pushchairs... That makes sense to me, I would expect those responsible for a child/children to be more responsive to a child's voice than someone (such as myself*) who is not in charge of a child. *HWMBO and I have no desire to have children and generally we are only left to look after children for short periods in child-friendly surroundings.

I think one issue I had was not that it was a child's voice, but that to me at least, it wasn't as clear as the usual announcement.
