Due to a low speed derailment of a South Western Railway passenger train, just east of Wimbledon, services are likely to be suspended Parsons Green-Wimbledon for the remainder of day.
One District train stuck in Wimbledon pfm.1, another at East Putney DOWN and one at Putney Bridge WB.

Lots of Police, plus a couple of Fire Crews and Ambulances present when I passed via NR this morning, although nothing too series (in dramatic terms) seems to have occurred with just the tail end of the train on one set of tracks and the vast majority of the train on another... Seems to have been one of the few trains that passes via the District line in passenger service. A lot of people still stuck on the train, so do spare a thought if like me your commute was disrupted!

The SWT service is running according to the BBC News site The derailment occurred on the District up, just outside Wimbledon station. So I would have thought the SWT services should be largely unaffected, although they were announcing delays were a consequence at Clapham Junction... London Overground was certainly full to the point I couldn’t board at 7:15!

All services around Wimbledon were blocked and of course until other protection processes were put in place the normal SWT service couldn’t run

A more accurate description would be "broken train *off* track".
A clearer picture showing the issue.

Significantly more passengers are affected by this than would have been before Putney Bridge was remodelled. Stopping the trains short at Parsons Green means no connection to a major bus hub at Putney Bridge. I understood that under the new arrangements, trains could still be turned at Putney Bridge. Surely at the very least they could do every other service that way?

Surely at the very least they could do every other service that way? Unfortunately, the new arrangement doesn't allow reversing at Putney Bridge. ( my train was stalled in the westbound platform from 06.04 until the decision was made to leave trains where they were, at 08.45)

Putney Bridge can not be used as a reversing point anymore & I think the reversing set of points at East Putney were removed also

Sounds like a classic failure of joined up thinking in terms of continuing journeys by public transport. Ironic when Tfl have just spent cash doing up the bus area at Putney Bridge station yet again.

Carto metro shows a crossover just beyond East Putney, but maybe this was unavaiable because of the need to get a breakdown train through to Wimbledon via Point Pleasant? OIr maybe because the traction current had to be turned off between Wimbledon and East Putney?

OIr maybe because the traction current had to be turned off between Wimbledon and East Putney? this crossover was removed in December 2016, Carto-Metro have been advised on many recent LU changes but have not yet implemented them.
