Piccadilly line trains are due to terminate at South Harrow this Saturday. Does anyone know whether both platforms are going to be used and thus both the cross-overs South of South Harrow will be used? If one platform do we know which one?

I think in the past only one platform was used as the service is relatively sparse.
Can't remember which one it was last time, perhaps the westbound one?

It depends on how long the layover is. I have seen both platforms used in the past, but if it's a short layover it could be one.

A 10-min service will operate, using both platforms, alternatively from Cockfosters and Arnos Grove, requiring a 7½min layover.

And just for those interested, usually if a train is unexpectedly to terminate on the Eastbound platform at South Harrow, the driver informs passengers for stations beyond South Harrow, to get off at Sudbury Hill, so they don't have to traverse the stairs. Obviously in this case there is little point since no trains will be going beyond South Harrow.

That's if the driver has been told which platform they are due to use. Presumably the information is relevant whichever platform the train will terminate at. For the sake of telling the passengers, yes, as it may save them all using lots of stairs at South Harrow. Operationally, it doesn't make a difference what platform is used. The driver may only find out on the approach to South Harrow by looking at the signal.

The timetable notice does specify which platform each train goes into but that could of course change.

Thank you all. Tempted to take a trip there I know cross-over bashing is not quite the same as track bashing, but it is of some interest.

I did go. All trains were using the Eastbound platform at around 10:30 this morning.
