Does anyone know what the likely availability of TfL staff passes is going to be on Crossrail?
(Potentially going to save me lots of money!)
Short answer = no
Longer entirely speculative answer = we already know they're valid to Shenfield (TfL Rail) and there can be no great issue about them working to Abbey Wood and to West Drayton going west. The question marks, in my mind at least, are validity into Heathrow and how far west a pass would be valid. I suspect the end result will be they are valid across Crossrail but limited to use of Crossrail services only. I suspect there will be an "interrogation" at Reading to get in and out of the station but that's no different to what happens at Peckham Rye, part of Woolwich Arsenal or New Cross today. I'm not certain about who will operate what stations west of West Drayton - whether they move to the Crossrail TOC or if some remain with GWR because of connecting shuttle / semi fast services.
TfL staff should, of course, find out about validity Paddington to Hayes / Heathrow next year when TfL take over the Heathrow Connect service.
It may be like the situation on the GE side where MTR Crossrail employees are allowed to use the faster GA services on production of a TFL Staff Oyster card and our MTR Crossrail id pass. All other TFL Staff Oyster Card holders are limited to the slower TFL (Crossrail) services.
