The plate gives a possible clue to the location of A. B seems to have no clue at all, unless that poster only ever appeared at one place. 'Stowing the Handle' is tramway parlance.

B seems to have no clue at all... The clues are there: you'll only find a handle looking like that on certain era stock.

Well the longest walk if you forget to stow the handle is 8 car 92TS so starting bid a Central line terminal, taped to to an end barrier or similar. Otherwise it's going to be Jubilee, Northern or W&C and not the other LUL lines.
And the other one probably a manually driven LUL line at a platform with a notable start-up SPAD history, but I've never seen that poster. Beautifully professional application isn't it!

I'm almost certain that's a stylised 96TS handle. To me I would expect it to be either a TBTC migration point back in the day, or Stratford, for trains entering service from Stratford Market Depot. So I'll open with Stratford.

Neither is at a station served by the Central line, but they are taped to the barrier at a platform end.

Couldn't see the minimal yellow tape lasting long in the open areas.

Wild Guess - is B is Kennington NB (Charing + branch).
My hunch says both these locations are on the Northern. Not sure if manual is used on the loop or not, so I could be barking up completely the wrong tree.

Not sure if manual is used on the loop or not, so I could be barking up completely the wrong tree. It isn't mandatory. You could of course go round the loop in PM, but you'd be expected not to without a good reason, as on the main line.

Is that for A, B or both? Edit, actually, have a point each: Answer: Location A: Morden - sign at south end of platform 2 - avoid false starts (click for a larger version) Location B: Morden - sign at south end of platform 2 - stow the handle (click for a larger version)

Morden is next obvious one. Perhaps the handle stowing getting off at the South end and the SPAD reminder at the North end, hangover from pre-ATC days, or even just old pictures? Or is that all too tidy? Sorry just seen it's answered already, Doh!

Doesn't switch to/from RM until the transition track which is beyond the platforms.

Both photos were taken on 28 October 2008, significantly pre-dating automatic operation. From the state of them I expect the posters were far from new when I took these pictures. It's been a long time since I was at Morden so I don't know if they are still there, or how long they lasted if they have been removed (or fallen to bits)
