In about January 2007 someone asked whether anyone was planning another quiz. I put my hand up and started preparing. Thinking I'd do one station a day for a month, I got together 28 pictures (with some help, particularly from @aspect , as I wasn't living in London at the time), made a few simple modifications (the first six days were all unmodified) and waited for the 1st of February to roll around. When I found out how good you all were at it, I had to quickly do some more modifications (day 8 was the first with a modification that didn't just obscure a station name sign) and swap out some pictures for harder ones. At the end of the month I asked if people wanted to continue, and with a clear vote in favour I prepared another set. After a few months I stopped asking and just carried on, and carried on, until I took two days off for Christmas and then resumed (2007 is to date the only year with questions between Christmas and new year). If I'd known at the time that I'd still be doing it 10 years later I don't think I'd have been so quick to put my hand up! However I enjoy doing it, I have 4459 pictures from 687 locations in stock (and about a dozen more from yesterday I've not added to the database yet) and ideas stretching as far into the future as 20 November 2019 so I don't plan on stopping any time soon. So, with thanks to rincew1nd and Colin D , and all the others who've assisted me over the years - @aspect , cso , @robster, mrfs42 (on a couple of occasions) and especially the much-missed SE13 , all that's left is to introduce question #3,491: There are four locations, find the link between them and the fifth in the set. Location A: (click for a larger version) Location B: (click for a larger version) Location C: (click for a larger version) Location D: (click for a larger version) ps: as it's a special occasion I'll give you a clue that this question was deliberately chosen for the 10th anniversary.

Nothing to add to the guesses so far, but a hearty BIG THANK YOU to Chris M and indeed the rest of the quiz team for all their efforts in producing the daily quiz. Us forum frequenters really appreciate your efforts.

10 years Chris, wow! I'm sure everyone appreciates the work that goes into preparing the quizzes. I know I don't spend as much time in here as I should (too hard for me!) but the quiz section is one of the most popular parts of this site. Here's to another 10!

Answer: Location A: Kensington Olympia - entrance from Olympia Way [Chris M] (click for a larger version) Location B: Moorgate - Crossrail works (29 December 2015) [@ellis ] (click for a larger version) Location D: Hammersmith (H&C) - Station entrance [ caravelle ] (click for a larger version) whistlekiller2000 is almost there with the link, just a little more information for this anniversary edition. Also still need location C and the fifth in set.

For those struggling with C and/or the link, don't forget this little snippet! ps: as it's a special occasion I'll give you a clue that this question was deliberately chosen for the 10th anniversary.

Don't you think South Harrow is a tad modern?

Congrats on your long run - that will teach you to volunteer for things... I'm going to punt for something up the District for C Moorgate - had [national rail[1]] trains running into it over former met lines at one point Hammersmith - had [national rail] trains running into it over former met lines at one point Ditto Kensington Olympia So something on the district would complement on the [national rail] trains that ran on over the LTSR [1]used as shorthand for anything not part of the LT world rather than try to divine exactly which company it was

C isn't on the District line. The link isn't related to National Rail (or predecessor mainline companies).

whistlekiller2000 remains the closest to getting the link, but think about why I chose this link for the 10th anniversary edition of the quiz.

After a little bit of research, these were the termini of the Metropolitan Railway on its 10th anniversary (1873). The fifth is South Kensington.
