Careful now, someone will be wanting a new set of trips programmed into S stock!
Is there a maximum number of trips that can be stored, or is it (in theory, obviously) possible for there to be pre-programmed routes between every pair of stations on the SSR? Wimbledon to Chesham via Aldgate anyone?
I was actually thinking about this the other day. Wouldn't it be possible to have a special "post wembley" set of trains that go in all of the directions around the circle and spoke off whenever possible?
There are already too many trains on the north side of the Circle line.
Terminating trains at Moorgate delays the service in both directions.
Yes. Moorgate is slowwww and would only create more problems. There's very little capacity left on the top side of the Circle, and if you were running trains through you'd want to get them pushed out the other side - either through to at least West Ham/Plaistow or round the Circle.
In reality the quickest place to turn trains now on that side is At King's Cross, but it depends on sufficient gaps on either road, as well as additional train operators to 'step back'.
Whilst we are rapidly heading from "Historical" to some form of "RIPAS" (sorry mods!) - the thought occurs to me that if off-peak the Met terminated at Baker Street then Aldgate would be free-ed up for these extra trains along the top of the circle. But like I said, discussion of anything not related to what has been belongs on a different board!
