New traction package as well will make them attractive from 2021 if any lines in Wales have been have got overheads by then.

My favourite main line stock (out of what's currently in service).

The stapleress won't like them. She prefers manual w.c.s with "proper locks"! She'd really prefer to see the ballast through the aperture, like in Mark 1s!

I had a glance at one of these at Liverpool Street today; it wasn't going to Romford, so I didn't get on it. It didn't really strike me as that impressive personally.

Silenthunter, if it wasn't going to Romford, where was it going? They don't use 321s other than on the GEML, do they?

I know, Crusty. Very few do, hence the rather cryptic notices at Shenfield and Stratford which read Romford? All trains on the GEML go through Romford, though!

Am I missing something in accepted railway jargon here. As a passenger I would take "to" and "calling at" as synonyms.

Am I missing something in accepted railway jargon here. As a passenger I would take "to" and "calling at" as synonyms. "To" would the final destination, "calling at" is the stops along the way. We were pointing out that most Greater Anglia trains (although not TfL Rail) don't call at Romford; they pass the station at speed on Platforms 2 or 3.

I didn't know 321304 was back yet. That makes 3 complete, 321303, 304 and the demonstrator 321448

321304 is the only one in service as of today. 321303 has gone back to Doncaster, I assume to have the "Abellio" removed from its sides and have the AC motors added. I haven't seen 448 about recently, it hasn't been in service for some time since it was used as the testbed for the new AC motors in the Autumn.
The refurbishment and transformation to AC are being done seperately for some reason, so 304 will have to head north again soon.
I've travelled in 304 a few times now and it is really impressive, if a little too bright inside. Many of the punters assume it's the first of the new trains that are on order. It is rumoured that the 30 Renatus 321s will be the last of the old Anglia stock to be replaced at the end of 2020 but they should see further service elsewhere.

It's been on the Clacton services quite a bit recently, though I've not seen it this week. No sign of the GN ones in service yet. There's a few up at Clacton depot now.

why are these trains being refurbished if they are going to be replaced so soon?
DOes anyone have any footage of the new motors in action?
