The forum staff are glad to read that members enjoyed the excursion arranged for them on the morning of the Christmas Social; we look forward to seeing the pictures taken in due course!
In particular we wish to thank MoreToJack for being an expert tour guide, seaeagle for taking up the role of back-marker and Rich32 for being an additional licenced member of staff.
This was a unique tour; members should not approach any member of LU staff in an attempt to gain access to the disused areas. The Forum Staff will apply the principles in this thread if necessary.
The Administrators and Moderators would like to take this opportunity to wish members a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thank you Jack and the team for organising it all! I've submitted the writeup on the LTM blog for approval so it'll probably go live tomorrow with about a dozen photos. If there's anything wrong on it, please tweet me or email me (tim) at (timdunn) dot (com) and i'll make any necessary corrections and then chastise myself appropriately.

Unless you predate both the Jubilee & Victoria Lines, you can't be considered old.
If you predate closure of the South Acton branch as well, then you are merely getting your second wind or raising a fresh head of steam.
As for part of the railway infrastructure.................?

Unless you predate both the Jubilee & Victoria Lines, you can't be considered old. Conversely, my father, who left his native London over half a century ago, still refers to the Victoria Line as the "new" one and, like various other bits of infrastructure like the Hammersmith flyover, it is absent from his mental map of London. If you predate closure of the South Acton branch as well, then you are merely getting your second wind or raising a fresh head of steam. I do actually predate closure of the South Acton shuttle (only just), but I didn't live in the area until nearly two decades later so I don't recall it. However, I do remember seeing Q stock on the ELL when visiting relatives in SE London .

You do make a good Booking Clerk though! No he didn't. He was rude and discourteous throughout, gave out the wrong change and then closed the blinds when someone asked for his name, rank and number.......

If that's the criteria, I must be positively prehistoric if I can remember riding on Standard stock on the Central Line!

Ah, now I said considered old.
And not so considered by me, who first made an appearance when London still had trams, & roughly midway between the end of one Bakerloo extension to Camberwell plan, and the mooting of the next one.
I can't actually recall being taken out to watch the last tram through Camberwell squash an old penny on my behalf, but I was assured by several relatives that was the case.
