When the Shopping Centre at Elephant & Castle is re-developed, I've seen loads of comment about the 're-building of the Northern Line ticket office', but does anyone know if it involves replacement of the lifts with escalators? Like Covent Garden, in recent years, Elephant & Castle has had a resurgence of traffic, and the lifts in both the Northern and Bakerloo stations can't cope with the crowds. The frequent breakdowns haven't helped either. Are there any plans to combine the stations? The present underground connection between the two doesn't give the impression the two stations are that far apart. Then LU could get rid of the Bakerloo station, which at the moment stands out amongst all the re-development (although the red facade should be kept at all costs).

Think it will depend on the Bakerloo line extension getting built.
Escalators would make a lot of sense as well as better connections with the main line station.
