So this happened. Does anybody know whether installing CCTV monitors into the cabs and transmit the signals via infrared/WiFI has been considered (or even costed)? I know Hong Kong has it for a while now, just wondering why LU is sticking with their fixed CCTVs.

It already happens on a number of lines. OTTOMH Northern, Central, Victoria and Jubilee and those served by the S Stock: Circle, Met', H&C and most of the District.

92,95,96,09 and S stock all have In-Cab CCTV, with images being transmitted from platform mounted cameras to the cab.
Class 172 and 378 on LO also have In-Cab CCTV, albeit slightly different as the cameras are mounted on the side of the train instead of on the platform.
Only older stock, namely 72,73 and D78 use fixed platform mounted CCTV screens, as there is probably no practical/economical way of integrating some sort of CCTV display into the cabs. D stock will be replaced within a few months anyway, so only 72 and 73 stock will be left with fixed platform mounted CCTV screens, and this will almost certainly continue until the trains are replaced.

It does say the monitors in the drivers cabs near the bottom. And the spokesman is incorrect as South Harrow in on the Pic so 1973 stock so there are no monitors in the cabs.

Sunlight at the most awkward angles can affect the camera view directly and/or the T/Ops view of platform mounted mirrors or monitors. Usually not all of those at the same time! So lines with in-cab monitors can be affected if the camera view is the problem.
