I'm at Stratford now (was fearing the worst) and it's now minor delays, ~3 min waits between trains, and no overcrowding. Good to go!

Not sure if connected but this morning I was going WB and we stopped at Leytonstone (due to 'something on track' at Leyton requiring turning off traction current ahead) then we stopped at Leyton (and was told that traction current had to be turned off again).
I wondered if there was something wrong with the train ahead (e.g. shoe gear problem). Then it all went back to normal and we proceeded normally.
Maybe unconnected but was a bit strange.

Not sure if this is the same thing, however there's a problem at Bow Substation (between Mile End and Stratford). I don't know the details, however it could be something like a rectifier being out of commission for some reason. In this situation the power supply is more prone to tripping out on overload, for example if too many trains are drawing too much current in the area. The solution is to ensure not too many trains are in the section, which could place a capacity pinchpoint which affects the service capability of the entire line. The above is educated speculation, so others may be able to add to this. |

They only allowed 39 trains in the section at one time due to loading problems

North End is correct, the problem is at Bow Substation, a faulty transformer needs replacing. Until that happens, services through the area are being thinned out.

At about 19.00 hrs last night, there were 27 trains cancelled.

According to a internal document which I can not share it was effecting services east of Bow Substation so that would make it Liverpool Street to Epping / Hainault

The actual section affected would probably be shorter, but it'll cause disruption between those 2 points because they are the only places that they can turn trains whilst still maintaining an acceptable frequency. |

Indeed, the Central Line could really do with a three-platform station in zone 1 that could reverse trains from either direction without needing to delay the service by tipping people out. I wonder if anyone at TFL has had the same thought. "What can we do with the British Museum siding I wonder?" Before we get too off-topic for this thread, I'm going to start a new one in the RIPAS area. |

Apparently the power supply issues will go on all week! This will add to the delays and disruption caused by the Piccadilly Line strike tomorrow night and Thursday.

Central line now showing as running a "good service". Does this mean it's fixed or did someone get a bit carried away updating the service statuses?

Fixed at around 18:00 tonight rectifier changed in Bow Substation

According to an internal LU bulletin, the replacement was taken from Roding Valley. I suppose it's a lot quicker than waiting for one to be supplied.

The original one has been sent off for repair and will returned to ROV not Bow.
